Full Screen Carplay on Refresh

I have tried following this step by step with no luck. It won’t switch over to Android Auto after I put in the microSD card. HELP!

Ok, I got mine to work, thank you! BUT…… when I start the truck I have to go through 3 steps before I can get to CarPlay, when I start the sceen will come on with “pixel” on the connected devices, I have to hit that and then it will go to the android looking screen, then there is an icon called “autokit” and one I hit that I will get full screen CarPlay in which looks awesome. Is there something I’m missing to get it to default to the CarPlay screen like it did before when I start the truck?

I see the Pixel phone under Android Auto app but when I click on it, it says there is a time and date sync error, I click to fix it, and it then says can’t connect. I’m stuck in a loop.

The way I got around this is by using a Tbox Plus from Carlinkit. These boxes allow you to not only do stuff like Netflix, Hulu, etc... on your screen, but also have wireless Carplay. These devices come preset to use Apple Carplay as the connection method to the car. This means the screen still won't fit fully. To fix this, you have to change the connection method by putting the attached file onto an sd card (format exFat), put into the Tbox Plus, and a message will pop up asking to change the connection method. Click Yes and it will restart and ask to connect an android auto device. And you are done! It sucks that you have to buy a device to get carplay full screen on these trucks. Fingers crossed GM decides to send an update to make this native.

No, the only difference is that you have a full screen, other than that everything looks / works the same but with some additional functionality in apps in which I haven't even started playing with yet. I'm still trying to figure out if there is a way to get it to automatically load like the OEM CarPlay app, so far I only have to now push the "Pixel" app on the screen and everything works, I would love to not have to be bothered with that.

have you tried to make a phone call? Did either you or the person you called have a really bad echo and delay?

Sorry, I have not gotten on for a few days. Let's go through it. Are you using a Mac or a PC? On a Mac, open Disk Utility, click on the SD card, Erase, format to exFat, and scheme to Master Boot Record. Download that file and place it in the Tbox. On PC, right-click on the SD card, click format, select exFat for the file system, then click start. Download and put the file in there and put it into the Tbox. If that doesn't work, try to format it as fat32 instead of exfat.

I have to click on Pixel too for it to show the device. After that, it should auto-load Autokit though. If anyone here knows of a solution to get it to auto open the Android Auto for the Pixel, then please chime in.

I have never seen that before. Just to clarify, what happens if you click the Date / Time button and adjust it? If it is, maybe the Tbox has the wrong time. Do you have another vehicle that has Apple Carplay? If so, try plugging it into that one and if it loads, try setting the date and time and see if it's correct.

I have and I am not sure if it's just an issue with my phone, my brother's phone, or this, but I was on a call with him today and he said there was a 2-second delay.

I have checked the date and time settings in the Carlin Kit settings and my truck. They are both set to automatic. So it should sync. I tried to adjust each one manually to see if one feeds another. I can’t get this message to go away.

Also, the file to put on the SD card, mine starts with what looks like Chinese writing in step 1 and 2. Then repeats in English step 1 and 2. Is that right?
