AC leaking a LOT of condensation?

Recommended Posts

Hello GM truck owners, I’ve noticed today at 100k that my truck is leaking ALOT of “condensation” is this normal? I’ve already “refilled” a couple months ago. Pressure shows 45 ish. Ac has never been freezing cold anyway. Always thought it was normal to be weak. It’s leaking  from two points.  Also the leaking water is not cold at all. It’s very warm. Anybody  have any idea if my ac is failing? Or what have you.  Truck is a 2019 z71 cc with about 97k miles.

????

It is a natural function of a/c compressors to generate condensate as result of the refrigeration process.   Do not care if it is a vehicle or a house:.. Thr water is generated and must be drained away….  Usually a problem with vehicles a/c is the condensate drain hose gets clogged by debris or bugs and that is not good.

if your system is properly charged then something else in the way of temperature controller/rheostat/thermostat  or blend door is the problem if the air is not cold enough for you.

Condensation is moisture that has been removed from the air -- it is not something that came from inside the AC system.

The amount of condensation depends on the humidity in the air that is being cooled.

Are using the recirculation button or is it drawing air from the outside?

What is the center vent temperature coming out when on max cooling while driving?

How were you reading or doing with your 45ish pressure reading and what made you think you needed to add refrigerant?

The condensation water drips on the exhaust when it drains. This may be why it is warm instead of cool like you are thinking it should be. As stated above condensation is the moisture from the air being taken away so if it's been raining or you live near the coast it should be working pretty hard to remove that moisture.
