Sierra not starting from time to time, seems related to shifter.

Recommended Posts

I've had a couple of issues recently with my 2014 6.2L not wanting to start. The first time it occurred it wouldn't start in park and just made a click noise when I turned the key. My first thought was the batter but even with a jump it still just clicked. I tried shifting in and out of park several times with no luck. Finally after 10-15 minutes of trying everything I could think of I tried starting from Neutral and it started right up. The second time it happened, shifting to neutral still wouldn't start but as soon as I went back to park it did start. My two guesses are something to do with the park sensor (or neutral sensor, idk the exact name) or a starter solenoid starting to go bad. What would you all recommend looking into and are there any good methods to troubleshoot either further? Since its been so intermittent I've not been able to try much yet.

Any chance you are using a Range AFM Disabler?

No, though I do have an HP Tuner that I plan to disable the AFM with at some point. I haven't used it yet though.
