Bad Battery or Electrical Issue? <18 months old

Recommended Posts

I'm baffled by this. My silverado is not even 18 months old. I go to start it yesterday and it tries to turn over and can't. I put my jumper on it, drive it around and all seems fine. Today I go to start it and it's dead. Like dead dead. When I put my jumper on it I can't get enough juice and I'm getting all sorts of weird alerts.

Is it really possible my battery died that quick? Like wtf, nothing odd has happened, we just came back from a long roadtrip, but that's it. I don't see anywhere where my lights or something is being left on and draining the battery either.

The kicker is that I can't drive my car because my truck is blocking it and I can't move the f'n electronic shifter into neutral.

Your Silverado's battery issue could be due to a faulty battery, parasitic drain, or alternator problem. Check the battery voltage and consider having a mechanic test for parasitic drain. For the electronic shifter, check your manual for an override to move it into neutral. If the battery checks out, have the electrical system inspected for other issues.
