I E-mailed Corsa about some exhaust questions, and here is the response. Hope this helps!

William,

I hope to address your questions individually:

Question: I was wondering if you made an exhaust system that had dual

side exits, one pipe for each side.

Answer: We do not offer a system with dual side exits for each side. We

do not feel that a Dual side exit exhaust system allows enough clearance

to the Driver side shock absorber. This could lead to premature shock

absorber failure due to heat.

We do offer several different exhaust options for your Silverado

(Passenger Side Exit; Dual-Under-Bumper with several tip options). We

also offer 2 different sound levels- TOURING & SPORT.

Question: Do we have dyno data?

Answer: We have dyno data that supports our claim of 14 HP peak gain.

The data also shows Torque gains of 6 to 20 lb-ft. throughout the RPM

range.

Question: Do GM engines need backpressure to make power & torque?

Answer: All engines need some backpressure to smoothen out the torque

and power delivery. An engine with NO backpressure may make great PEAK

power bit will usually lose power and torque lower in the RPM range.

The important thing to remember is that the factory exhaust manifold and

the catalytic converters contribute to over 60% of the overall system

backpressure.

Installing a CORSA Performance CAT-BACK (rear of the catalytic

converter) system only changes the components AFTER the factory

manifolds and converters thereby leaving enough back pressure to have a

broad torque and power curve. By reducing the cat-back backpressure (up

to 60% on the Silverado), we free up the engine to work more efficiently

(an engine is basically a pump- the more efficiently it breathes, the

more power it can make).

Installing a complete cat-back system is a lot more beneficial than

replacing the muffler only. Our straight-through design muffler and

mandrel -bent (no wrinkles or constriction in the bends) tubing minimize

the back-pressure and maximize the HP & torque gains. You also get the

only aftermarket exhaust that gives you an aggressive exhaust note when

you want it (at idle and while accelerating) and a quiet cruise. All

our exhaust tubing and hangers are manufactured using 304L Stainless

steel that will never rust (expect to replace the factory muffler and

pipes in 2-3 years depending on where you live).

Sorry about the long email but I wanted to make sure your questions were

addressed. There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding exhaust

systems, their function, and their design. Hope this helps in your

decision making process.

Regards,

Gautam.
