Tranny fluid change

Recommended Posts

I am definately a newbie when it comes to all this but lots of great info here. I want to change over to Mobil 1 ATF truck has 35,000 miles on it, but I am leary of letting a garage flush it..Cant trust them. I know it i just drop the pan, change filter and refill I will only change 1/3 of the capacity. But after I change the filter and then just drain through the drain plug and refill once a month with synthetic I should be able to have almost all synthetic in there after 2 or 3 times.

Is that correct?

Seems l could break the cost of it over time. would not be all that much money at once. does my reasoning sound ok? Or is the flush the way to go and if so dealer or Monroe, Midas, ETC.

Concerning the filter change..Any particular brand or use what they have at advanced auto or Pep boys? I have not done one since the 80's so..is it an easy thing..Does the kit come with a gasket and a filter and that's it?

Thanks all for replying to all my posts. I posted alot over the last month but I just want to make sure my used truck I bought lasts a long time.

Tony
