2024 2500 HD High Country Stock ACDelco 84673204 Shocks

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've tried doing some research on the Stock Shocks that came on my 2024 Silverado 2500 HD High Country, and can't find anything, no reviews..nothing. I was wondering how the OEM ACDelco 84673204 Stock Shocks compare to the Bilstein 5100's - Most if not all post pertain to Stock Shocks being Ranchos..but in my case, that isn't the case. I have the 5100's aready at home. I just haven't switched over to them yet.. Was wondering if the ACDelco stock shocks are decent / good and if I should just wait until they start failing before switching over. attached is the picture of the Stock Shock that came on the 2500 HD High Country

The Bilsteins will control bounce better during heavy payload and towing. The Ranchos are a twin tube cheapo spec that aren't known for being any better than the stock GM black shocks and are mostly a marketing gimmick to sell the "Z71" name.

If you are looking for a better/softer ride, it will not be found it shocks. That's in the torsion bars and rear leaf pack. Cognito sells 25% less stiff bars and springs but also 25% less payload/capability.

You got jipt! Every High Country & AT4 HD I've owned has came with the Rancho's. I'm with Epsilon Plus, not really sure they're any better than stock Delco's...

Yea, kinda figured something was weird when everything I’ve read from a lot of post, talked about the ranches as stock.. I took the hour and switch them all out for the Bilstein 5100s.. ride is probably about the same as far as daily driving. Bilsteins do recover a lot quicker, which is what I was wanting.. The ride with the ACDelcos wasn’t atrocious by any means when just daily driving .. but when going over dig dips or towing, they weren’t very comfortable/stable feeling as the rear end would keep bouncing 4-5times after going over dips on the highway.. the Bilsteins stopped all that and eliminated that “oh crap” feeling. The ACDelcos I could just lean on and they would compress, the Bilsteins you actually had to put all your weight on them and push to compress them.. on a 1500 the ACDelcos would probably be pretty damn good imho.

I would prefer the AC Delcos over the ranchos actually, had both on 1500/2500s

aftermarket is way to go once stock wears out......i wouldnt want 25% of my capacity reduced so bars amd leaf pack is out

they drive pretty damn nice for a 3/4 ton truck, no complaints

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD High Country is a heavy-duty truck built for performance and comfort. A key component of its smooth ride and handling is the ACDelco 84673204 shocks, which come as standard equipment. These high-quality shocks are designed specifically for the demands of a heavy-duty vehicle, ensuring optimal suspension performance under a variety of load conditions.

I can say that Bilstein 5100s make a significant difference. I rarely drive my diesels with no load or trailer on. My 2017 had 30,000kms and I was driving unloaded one day and it was like a pogo stick. I pulled the lower rear shock bolts and the shocks were flat. Wore right out. I was over the 3yr warranty period so I put Bilsteins on. The truck never rode that smooth even from new. They will not soften the ride as they are stiffer, but adversely they work better due to the stiffer design not allowing the truck to float or bounce. The ride is much more controlled if that makes sense. The truck stays more planted and doesnt feel like an old farm truck.
I want to change out the Rancho’s on my 2023 but it’s just not a priority when they havent failed yet.
