Old timer returning with a new to me 2004 Silverado 2500 6.0

Hi Folks-  I've been away for a number of years, over on a popular duramax forum, primarily.  However- I am getting ready to sell my 2018 Silverado 2500HD Duramax and just picked me up a 2004 Silverado 2500 crew cab with the 6.0L with 167,000 miles.  My first 3/4 ton with a gas engine.  And first truck with the 6.0.  I've had 4 Duramax's and 3 1500 5.3L trucks in the past, so I seem to go back and forth, however - I'm not too thrilled with where the Diesel industry has been forced to go, mostly because of the extra emissions crap that has to be on modern diesels now a days, which greatly reduces the reliability.  My 2018 is currently in the body shop having some scrape damage repaired, after an encounter with a parking lot bollard.  Uggh.  Then she will be up for sale.

Given that I'll be using a good chunk of the money I get from my 2018 Dmax to pay for taxes owed for 2013, I'll likely be in this truck for at least 2 years minimum, but we'll see.  The 6.0L should be able to tow what I need for now.

Looking forward to Getting my hands dirty on doing some needed maintenance on the truck.  Planning on doing the plugs, wires, front and rear diff, and transfer case oil myself, will take it in to my trusted independent repair facility to have the tranny, coolant, brake, (along with new brakes) and power steering fluids done.  Already ordered a new set of aftermarket tail lights for it, and will be doing the same for the headlights soon.

The truck has an Edge tune on it, however - the former owner can't track down the tuner thing and will keep looking for it.  He barely put a few thousand miles on it a year for the past few years.  Only used it primarily when he went hunting.  I'm planning on having the old tuning stuff removed, and likely going with Black Bear.  That was the favorite on this forum for many years.

The truck also has a K&N setup that I plan on removing and maybe going back with the stock setup, or something else.  Still trying to decide on that.

Also going to have the dual exhaust pipes out the back removed as the pipes are getting rusty and loose, and maybe go with a dual side angled exhaust, or back to a single angled exhaust.  I am not a fan of the dual exhaust setups that come out straight out the back under the bumper.

Will also eventually have the aftermarket radio and security system removed and replaced with something more modern, including a back-up camera.  Once you've had one, it's hard to go without one.

That's it for now.  Will post up some photos here shortly.

Cheers
