2014 GMC Sierra 1500 has a rattle at various speeds

Recommended Posts

Truck has 68000 miles. Just noticed this morning. While pulling out of the driveway there was a rattle. Then at 30 mph and 60 mph same rattle but also at different speeds. If i let off the gas or sped up the rattle will go away temporarily. Not sure what the problem is. I crawled up under the truck and everything looks normal. I opened the engine bay and nothing out of the normal except that the vents by the windshield  had a lot of leaves in them which I removed. Any help would greatly asperated.

Does it sound like it might be something in the dash? If you have a passenger, does it sound like it is coming from the driver's side and vice versa for you when you are driving? It might be a loose screw in the overhead compartment. I had something like this. Watch the video below to see how to fix it.

I have had the loose screw problem in the overhead console as well. It drove me crazy trying to track down the cause. Once tightened back in, that noise was gone.

The other one that happened to me twice was behind the panel just under steering wheel. There are 4 screws in there and they have a bad habit of coming loose and rattling. There are a couple T15 (IIRC) screws on bottom panel that get removed first and a couple metal clips then holding that panel on. Pull that panel off to access the screws I'm talking about. Those loose screws also drove me nuts until I discovered problem and tightened them.
