On another note with  2000 Klm on the truck do you think I could put my foot into the truck now and see how it preforms ?

Yeah of course. It’s as broken in as it’s getting  change the oil and give it the beans but don’t expect a big wow these trucks are not fast. Too heavy and with terrible aerodynamics. They go fine for what they are though.

As most of you know we have the Chevrolet 2500 HD Gas Engine , We got an email from Chevrolet Canada saying to bring the truck into the dealership for a software upgrade . Well I called the dealership to book an appointment and they called it a recall . Does anyone know what this is about Q. I also posted this in the 3500 thread on the same issue

Thanks

Did any of you fellas put aftermarket wheel well liners in  ? I'm thinking Husky brand ?

Thanks

I put the Huskys on my 2017 earlier this year. Not quite an afternoon job. Probably easier w/ a clean new truck. Congrats on the new truck. Does the VIN start w/ a 2?

It drove nice on the way home and no issues . I have read reports that some think the seats are not comfortable but we both took turns driving and we found the seats to be comfortable .

Is the front seat on the Custom trim a 40/20/40? I have the same in my 2024 w/ the LT trim (cloth) & find them superior to the 40/20/40 seat that was in my 2017 regular cab.

I have been told that the fitment on the GM liners is better and the install is easier. My son added them to his Custom 2022.

If your going to add them I would suggest dry fitting them and then spraying the wheelhouse with Fluid film or similar before you install them. Its not mandatory but in the North its never a bad idea to rustproof.

My 2017 had the 'carpet' wheelwell liners in the front & a pox on the clown that came up with the idea. You can pressure wash them & the water never comes clean draining from them. I know in the past rust is a problem above the rear wheel openings, has anyone had a truck long term (mine had 100,000 miles on it) w/ the liners in the rear. On my truck there was no rust on the external surface of the wheelhouse, but the paint was getting blasted down to the galvanizing.

Thanks for your replies fellas ! I thought I did a fair bit of research before buying this truck by asking questions on this great  site and You Tube and other sources . But finding little things as I go along . I noticed behind the front grill they have those articulating louvers that help with warming the engine up in cold weather ?  I want to do all I can to  to keep this truck problem free so will follow recommend servicing etc.  was thinking of getting a Protection Film put on the front end of the truck as they say the paint is not that tough .Was thinking of cutting the recommended first oil change in half to rid the oil of break in debris . If you fellas care to share any tips i would greatly appreciate it !

Thank you !

I have had it on a couple of trucks a 2000 & the 2017) & it stood up well compared to others. When I get this truck done I am going to ask them to cut the 'rocker strips' to length before application. They cut the strips after they were on the rocker. As a result, the paint started to blister at the cut edge of the strip on the driver's side.

Thanks 64BA Yes I get a free oil change with it . Metric Fuel LOL !

I will be watching the dealership as its a new dealership in town and I did not buy the truck from them I purchased from a dealer 4 hours away as it was the one we wanted

You might want to look into the free oil changes. My truck was built last year & I picked it up last month (see my thread 2024 On Its Way) EDIT: I see you've already posted on my thread 👍. This is a portion of the window sticker:20241020_231305.thumb.jpg.38abcf023f91e866b1373f2bbad4cc1e.jpg

I'm pretty sure your truck should get 2 as well from the dealer.

I had the Husky’s on my 2018.

I’m looking for something a little less. Since semi-retiring, I don’t drive as much on the developing sites as before. The Husky’s worked well, better than the stock 1500 splash guards but I still got debris up in the rocker panels. South Georgia red clay gets everywhere.

Amazon has the Husky’s for $119. The Chevy’s are $60 a pair so $120. The $285 comes from the Dealer install.

They have them in stock at our Dale Earnhardt Chevy Dealer and I’m going to take a look at them before I purchase. Beauty as they say, is in the eye of the beholder.

Jr's dealership eh? I've stopped @ the dealership Dale Sr owned in Newton NC a few times over the years.

Coming from my 2017 w/ a 6 L, I'm quite impressed w/ the 6.6's get up & go.

I have seen something on the forum about a software update for the 2024 HDs, but not sure where though. I'll be watching my inbox. I did get an OnStar email, no incomplete recalls listed for my truck.

Mine shows a "customer satisfaction program" open N242435631 and shows it as a "serial data gateway module and radio" It was initiated on 9-10-2024.

My understanding is that it related to communication between modules and is new programming.
