CA vs NW vs Federal Emissions

Recommended Posts

I'm in the process of ordering a 2024 Sierra SLT with the 3.0L Duramax.  The dealer is trying to order it with NE emissions even they are located in a federal emissions state and so am I.  What is the difference is emissions between the three different types.  Personally, I want FE9 federal emissions.

They are the same emissions equipment.  What changes is the warranties that may be applied to emissions equipment.  Both are 50 state legal.   20-30 years ago, sure, CARB state requirement cars/trucks had enhanced catalysts for more emissions reductions or things like secondary AIR injection, but now everything is pretty much CARB compliant.

So...if they can get you a truck, let them get you the truck.
