Infotainment Display & instrument cluster display issues/gremlins

Recommended Posts

2019 Chevrolet 2500 HD Duramax LTZ. These issues started several months/4k miles ago and have progressively become more frequent. Truck currently has 60k miles on it.

Note that I have performed the following several times:

  • System update (current).
  • Infotainment system Reboot (current).
  • Calibrate touch screen.

Infotainment screen:

  • Freezes. Will not respond to touchscreen touches(?). Home button & other manual buttons work including volume/channel knobs, HVAC controls & steering wheel controls. Was intermittent but seems to occur more now that warm weather is here.
  • Switches from one display to another. Ex.: Displaying radio info, display changes to the navigation screen. Then it will start scrolling the displayed map w/no used input.

Turning off/on the screen changes nothing. Turning off the vehicle completely resets the display (usually). Allowed to cool off completely does reset the display. Maybe heat related?

Instrument cluster screen:

  • When looking at the 'Info' screen, display changes to Audio display w/no driver input. Driver returns to 'Info' screen; system changes it to 'Audio', etc. See above to reset.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here is my post from last year on this.

This weekend I changed the touch screen on my 2017 GMC Denali, no more issues with changing channels, flipping to maps, annoying, clicking sound. Total time 1.5 HRs, total cost $35.79. Much better than the 1100 dealer quote.

EBAY part number DJ080PA-01A 8" 55 pin touch screen for Chevy / GMC MYLINK.

Its either the HMI module or the touchscreen.  Needs to be diagnosed.  If the driver info center is acting up its likely the HMI.
