Is CarPlay Apple Map Option to go Full Screen Coming anytime soon?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2023 Sierra Ultimate Denali and know that on some CarPlay vehicles (not Sierras)  I’ve seen an option to expand the CarPlay Apple Map to full screen from the current, about 2/3 screen size.  It basically looks like the Google Map screen using all the screen real estate.

Would be nice.......on my 2023 High Country ACP won't go full screen.

But, I do like the split screen feature........I have the music player on the right with an expanded screen map application like Waze on the left. Works well.....

Highly doubt it as the system is a Google / Android system, they won't play nice together in the sandbox.

I would love that but GM has said they're moving away from CarPlay in order to focus on the awful Google Assistant system. So it's unlikely GM will be updating their system to take advantage of the far superior larger screen format of CarPlay.

My wife's company car (BMW 330i) uses CarPlay and goes full screen and really like it. I think it looks much cleaner.

I too would love for screen to be full screen when I'm either listening to the radio or have my phone connecting and playing music. I do like the split screen at times when I'm on a road trip and need music on one side and Waze on the other but if I'm just around town and don't need a map I would like for the music display to be full screen.

Another thing that a slightly annoying is that the speedometer is on the left side on the new trucks where it was on the right on my 2008. I know that's trivial but sometimes it's annoying.
