Shark Fin antenna replacement

Recommended Posts

I had made a previous post about some XM radio issues I have been having, so I figured I would make another post about this specific question.

I believe my shark fin antenna has gone bad, as XM claims the signal is blocked and I can't even hear channel one, even if I'm in an open parking lot. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500, so Onstar is no longer compatible due to it being 3G. The actual antenna replacement is roughly $90, with the 2 plugs. My question is, can I get the cheaper antenna (only like $30) with just the one plug and have it still work? I know my Onstar wouldn't be plugged in, but like I said, I cant use that anymore anyways. Would the cheaper one with only one plug be compatible?

Have you found a $30.00 Shark Fin? If so, what does the seller's description of the antenna say? Do they tell you exactly what it does/how it works?
