2024 / 2500 Crew Cabs Roofs Cracking

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to find the Vin numbers for the 3000 Plus trucks that this problem affected  ?

Where were those trucks made , Oshawa or Flint ?

I sure don't want one of them .

Also does anyone know where this problem originated Flint or Oshawa ?   Are the truck bodies made at the same plant they make the truck or are they made in a certain place then shipped to the two plants ?

Thank You

#1   Not getting replies to this topic . Have you fellas that purchased 2024 Chevrolet and Gm trucks had the truck checkerd for a crack or at least the VIN number ran to see if it was in this group of trucks ?

#2   I'm a little concerned as to when these trucks were built and where ?

#3  Also I contacted a dealership here in Canada concerning this issue and they said they had not heard anything about it .

Is that possible ?

#4  Would you ask a dealer with  truck that you were interested in to pull the plastic strip and check for a crack ?

I would really appreciate some feedback on this as If I'm going to be buying one I don't want one with this issue or one that has been repaired .

Between this forum and what I’ve seen on FB, I haven’t heard of any trucks with the cracked roof issue.

I ordered my truck in Oct 23 and brought it home Jan 18, 2024. I’ve had one recall concerning the aux battery might not charge. Mine was fine but took it in for the recall anyways.

I haven’t got the tailgate recall.

I think there are other issues to be concerned about with the 2024 GM trucks than the roof.

...but you've been replied to in the 20 other threads you've already created.

My reply on your recall thread -

I will add to that, its not plant specific.  Only 3067 trucks.  All the ones in stock should have been fixed already and most appear to have a manufacturing date in August 2023.

I only know what I've read here for various issues plus personal experience with my truck. 2024 is a new model year.

My truck had the infotainment center blank out once: Fix is to hold the phone hang up button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds, screen resets and back to normal.

One winter day my truck had a Service Traction Control error and check engine light came on. Truck engine shuddered, turned off and on a few times and the Traction Control issue went away. Engine ran fine and check engine light went away a day later. Had dealer record the codes in case of further issue. Has not happened again.

If you read through the posts here and in the Troubleshooting section, you can see what others have had problems with. I read them and make a mental note in case I get any of the same problems.

Tailgate opening by it self, oil consumption, low rear and front differential fluid, tow mirror issues, rear window leaking, transmission problems and other various electrical gremlins.

I had the dealer check/fill the differentials, transfer case and transmission during prep. I only have 3700 miles since purchase on 1/18/24 including a 850 mile roundtrip. I had the oil/filter changed at the dealer at 1100 miles after break in. I checked oil before and after the oil change and did the same after the 850 mile trip. Has not used oil yet but will monitor as I put more miles on it.

So I have now emailed 3 dealerships in my province in Canada and they have had no information or bulletins regarding the Cracked roof on the passenger side of the 2500's . I find this strange unless this was a USA production  only issue ,
