I have a 2021 Tahoe. It had been making a noise for almost a year. The dealership kept saying they couldn’t get it to recreate the noise over and over again. At my last service the noise was really loud, they heard it and said that it just needed differential fluid changed. Brought vehicle home, noise was much worse and I was almost at my 60,000 mile warranty. Took Tahoe back to dealership and after 4 weeks it was determined it needs a new rear end. And now the issue is getting one because apparently none are in stock. Dealer offers no loaner cars, GM has no policy on rentals other than they may reimburse up to $50 per day. We are now on week 7, no rear end and car is still sitting. Very disappointing!!!

GE has been extremely difficult to work with. Everyone works from home or provides extensions that disconnect call. No one has any answers as if this is just okay.

Ilove

my car again. Make sure you get 2 bottles of the ACDelco 10-4091 because differential fluid capacity is almost 2 quarts.

easy DIY project just need a little hand pump to put in the new fluid after draining the old fluid. drain plug is located at the bottom and fill up plug is at the back of the differential

Amsoil would be my choice.

Except in Amsoil's chart they say "No AMSOIL Product Recommendation" for the G86.

The problem Fondupot references may be why. Would be interesting to hear from Nick

That is unrelated. That is for diesel models only, and it's a transmission valve recall not the rear differential.

However there is a TSB for the rear differentials on Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban etc. that calls for flushing the fluid several times, or replacing the diff.

Yes, AMSOIL only has fluid for the G96 and nothing for the G86.  To me there seems to be an issue with the build/materials used in the G86 for there to be so many issues that I'm seeing. If the suggested fluid change out and additive suggested above works then I would try it.  Beats going to the hassle of dealing with the dealer and it's an easy task.
