How to find which 10-speed transmission on 2023 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate 6.2L engine

Recommended Posts

I think there are 2 types of 10-speed transmissions available for my Sierra.  I have the 6.2 liter engine.  Is there a code printed somewhere on the truck that I can find it?

In the drivers door jamb is a sticker with a QR code. Scan the code and it will tell you the RPO codes, RPO codes are the DNA of the truck.

It will be in the QR code at the bottom of the drivers doorpost

(most smartphone cameras have built-in decoder)

I think someone is misleading you.

On 2023 Denali Ultimate, the

- 3.0 has MCQ

- 6.2 has MHS

and the NHQ transfer case  (the 2 speed one)

(8 speed, and column shift version applications also shown for completeness.)

Probably hard to read with usage chart so without chart --

Redwngr - Mine must be MQC because the shifter isn’t mounted on the column.  It’s stick shift-like, on the console, spring loaded to center.  Thanks for the detailed response.

MHS with the 6.2 as GETGONE makes note of.  MQC is 3.0 Duramax.

The 1500 10 speeds are all a 10L80 at the end of the day.  Just comes down to what engine they are paired with (dictates torque converter and programming specs) and how they are shifted (column shift with cable or ETRS shift by wire so different valve bodies and wiring internal) which makes up the differences in them.  Other than that, all 10L80s.

Yes I read it.  But I focused on the MHS said it was a column shifter which I don’t have.  So I agree it must be MHS.  Thanks getgone for your exceptional reading skills…Quite the attitude there.

Its MHS.  Read the description again.

MHS - Transmission, 10-speed automatic with Electronic Transmission Range Selector, (ETRS), electronically controlled with overdrive, tow/haul mode and steering column paddle shifters. Includes Cruise Grade Braking and Powertrain Grade Braking

Included and only available with (L84) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine and (A50) bucket seats or (L87) 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine.

"Included and only available with 5.3 and 6.2".  The MQC transmission is "Included and only available with (LZ0) Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I6 engine and (A50) bucket seats".

ETRS is the shift by wire console mounted shifter.

So 6.2 Denali means you have a console which automatically means you have the ETRS shifter and therefore the MHS transmission RPO code.
