Service Traction Control and Check Engine Light

Recommended Posts

Two days ago on Sunday I was getting ready to go ice fishing and pull my truck out of the detached garage as I can't lower the tailgate while it's in the garage. I attempted to remote start the truck but didn't hear it start. Went outside and thought it was odd that it wasn't running. Got in and started. The truck idled like crap, Service Traction Control popped up on the DIC and the check engine light came on. I turned it off and on a couple of times. The Service Traction Control went away but the check engine light was still on and it was idling fine. I pushed the Onstar button and requested a diagnostic check. They did and sent me an email. Truck had diagnostic code P0300 error, which is a exhaust emissions system issue.

Since it was idling fine, I drove around town a couple of times and topped off the fuel. Decided to go fishing but closer to home in case it had an issue. Had a great afternoon fishing for white perch!

The myGMC app showed a couple of issues: Tire Pressure and Emission Systems. I keep the tires at 55psi when cold. The Emission Systems error kept the truck from remote starting.

Called the service department at the dealer yesterday when they opened. They can get me in on Friday this week. I had some errands to run and miraculously the check engine light was off yesterday and the error went away on the app. I was able to remote start it. I'm keeping the appointment so it can be documented in case it happens again.

I know it's a truck forum but pic of fish.

everything turn out ok?  usually stabilitrack is the first thing to light up when a check engine code is sent..   since one cleared, the check engine may also clear after a day or so of driving?  but you are correct, remote start will not function if there is a check engine light

Sorry for not updating. Dealer was able to read the code. They checked everything out, no issues but documented in case of future similar issues.

Going on a 425 mile trip tomorrow and back on Friday, will be longest trip since I got the truck. Currently at 2283 miles, hoping for no issues while away from home.
