Hey all, my 22 Sierra Denali Limited with 27k miles is suddenly losing power steering. I was about an hour into a trip away for the weekend tonight and got a message that power steering assist was reduced drive carefully. I pulled over, checked around for blown fuses, and eventually the power steering kicked back on. It failed again 20 minutes or so later, again. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum. There is a ground strap on the passenger side in the engine compartment that corrodes causing the power steering assist to fail. I would get this into a dealer now.

Hello

I received this message on my 2020 Acadia--

Please advise if there is another mass recall.

This is the 2019-2025 Silverado/Sierra forum section.  Your Acadia is not a Silverado or Sierra, so the fix won't be the same.

In your case, you probably have a V6 Acadia.  If you are seeing that message, the issue isn't the steering, its the P0128 thermostat code you probably have.  Scan for codes.  You need a new thermostat and temperature sensor.  No recalls, no "mass recalls", you just need a thermostat and temp sensor.

From the GM tech note:

A vehicle may come into the dealer with a "Service Steering Message".

Upon diagnosis no codes will be found that seem to pertain to the steering system.

Code P0128 -Engine Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature may be set.

Cause

If vehicle diagnostics determine that the ECM may be reading the  coolant temperature incorrectly a "Service Steering Message" will be turned on to protect the steering gear in the event of an undetected overheat condition.

This is concerning! I received the message “Service Power Steering, Drive With Care” today on my 2024 Chevy. I had just shortly exited a sharp curve when I lost power steering. Took it to the dealership where the team is very helpful and are currently evaluating.   Although, very concerned to see these issues that potentially result in serious injury or worse.
