Silverado 2023 6.2 Ecotec Engine Noise - I have a video

Recommended Posts

Only 11000KM's and getting loud engine noise which grows louder as you rev the engine.  I hope GM doesn't tell me thats normal.  Issue is no engine light, so concerned I will not get anywhere with GM.  Have a listen to the video.  Anyone else with same noise ?  Thanks folks, Paul

thanks guys, I have the truck at the dealer today.  Will post their diagnosis once I have it in case anyone else runs into the same situation.   Hoping for a good reliable truck,  :)

So update from the dealer today.   They said the Thrust bearing went.  That also sent a lot of metal through the cooling system into the radiator.    So the good news is the dealer told me GM is going to replace the engine and any parts that may have also received damage like the radiator.   Basically I felt the dealer did what they could do so no complaints there.   Bad news - 6.2 engines are in short supply and on back order.   Could be months I am told before I see my truck again.  Worse news is they also gave me a dodge RAM as a replacement vehicle.   :(

The service rep said they are seeing this Thrust bearing issue with the 6.2's.   If anyone else has experienced this issue or know if GM is doing anything about it please chime in.

There is another guy on this forum who has a 2022 or 2023 with the 6.2 who has had his crankshaft bearings fail. TexasToast. He posted in the Engine, Trans and Drivetrain section.
