2021 6.2 Denali No 91 Octane Available

Recommended Posts

Just purchased my 21 Denali 1500 with the 6.2. We only have 91 octane available, but owners Manuel says 93, what do people do? Octane boosters or just use 91? I have been reading about the DFM issues and how important it is to do regular oil changes and the correct fuel so there is no combustion problems. Not sure if it matters but the truck is stock, no mods and live in Winnipeg Canada with freezing cold winters for 3-4 months of the year. I was thinking of using octane boosters to achieve the 93 recommended level.
thoughts anyone?

You'll be fine using 91 octane.  No need to run octane boosters.  If you're 2500 feet above sea level then it makes sense you don't have 93 octane.  Octane ratings change above 2500 feet.  Only place I've seen 91 at sea level was Southern California.  Everybody knows Southern California is "special".

Welcome to the forum. What Transient said, you'll be good on 91 octane.

Ron,

I live just south of you in Fargo and have used 91 ( Now 92 as Costco finally moved in a few years ago ) since 2015 in the last 3 trucks with the 6.2 with no issues. You will be fine.

Hope you enjoy the truck!
