2004 sierra 2500hd sle interior lights only come on briefly then turn off

Hi,I have a 2004 GMC sierra 2500 hd sle, the interior lights work when i have the switch on the dash on no problem.But when i open the door they tend to go out shortly after especially when the rear doors or the passenger door is open after just a short period of time.I have the dial set for the maximum time but the lights still go out.ANY THOUGHTS?

Dial for maximum time?  The thumbwheel is for setting the brightness of the backlighting of the dash lights (the detente at the end is one way to turn on the dome light).

 

The interior lights use a pre-programmed delay for staying on.  They will stay on longer, if you leave the key out of the ignition, but inserting it and turning the truck on will turn off the lights quickly.

 

IDK of any way to alter the timing, other than hacking the bcm or doing something like faking that a door is open (so you then get warnings that a door is open).
