Recommended Posts

going to change muffler and tail pipe and the guy at the muffler shop said the flo pro was the only muffler that sounded right on the 6.0s said the 6.0 was the only one that they had trouble with resonateing really bad in the cab have any of you changed the muffler on your 6.0 and did it sound allright ?

Can't vouch for the Flopro, but I had a SS Magnaflow on my 6.0 and it resonated bad below 2000 rpm. I put in a small resonator between the cats and the muffler, still resonated. Had the stock muffler welded back in place and am happy for the silence. In my case this was an expensive lesson. Just my opinion.

A resonating problem with Magnaflow??? Which muffler did you have? I've never had trouble with a Magnaflow resonating, nor any other person I know who has a Magnaflow.

I've never heard of the pro Flow mufflers, but here's my two cents!

For an aggressive, mellow-deep sounding system, go with a 70 series Flowmaster. I have this setup on my truck ('00 7.4 ltr), and I couldn't be happier with the results. Almost 0 interior sound, especially freeway cruise.

A deeper sounding exhaust would to consider Magnaflow still. A 24" muffler would be perfect for your application, deep and smooth all through the r's (I'm guessing you don't want it loud, right?)

Spin tech makes a good muffler, They're deep and aggressive sounding, and sound great on almost all GM's. They don't "drone" like a Flowmaster either.

I wish I could help you more, but I usually do better if if I have more info to work off of. Try this website: www.exhaustsoundclips.com I'm a moderator and exhaust tech for the boards there, maybe we can all help you out!

No, I don't have the 6.0, I have a 7.4 ltr, but I know of a few people with the 6.0 in their trucks/suvs and they don't have any problems. One is my neighbors 02 Denali XL 6.0 ltr, 70 series flowmasters, no interior drone, and they don't need drone w/ 7 kids lol. The only way I can see a Magnaflow droning is with a 14" or 18" dumped right after the muffler.

Look around and see what you like, try to see which fits your needs best!

my neibor has a new dodge 360 with a raven muffler and it sounds bad as hell that kind of the deep rumble i was looking for but i keep hearing how bad the 6.0 resonates at lower rpm and i hate to take a 200.00 chance does your freinds have a pickup with a 6.0 in it and if so what type muffler do they have and what type tone does it have? thanks

Which Magnaflow did I have? It was part # 14590, dual 3" inlets, one 3" outlet, 22" long. I only replaced the muffler, everything else remained stock, and I can tell you it resonated bad below 2000 rpm, my wife hated to ride in it. Some people like loud pipes, I like a mellow sound with no "droning" in the cab. Will run with the stock setup for now. Was able to sell the used Magnaflow to someone else.

 The first one is an 02 Denali 6.0, 70 series Flowmasters. They don't need loud with their 7 kids (a lot yes i know hehe). It's got this mellower deep, very aggressive sound. Nicely tuned outside, with very little interior sound at all. No drone, even as I've noticed riding in it. The other ride is an 01 Sierra 6.0 Crew Cab, 24" Magnaflow. It's got a deep rumble outside, great sound under acceleration. No drone whatsoever, at any speed/rpm. Spin Tech also makes a great muffler. They're not really all that common, mainly popular fo race, but they have all sorts of mufflers for your application. I have a 91 4.3 ltr Blazer, and I couldn't be happier with the spin tech on it. They sound awesome on all gm's too. The three mufflers I'd reccomed for your application are the following:

70 Series Flowmaster

5x11x24" Magnaflow

Spin Tech Sportsman Street XL.

They'd all have that rumble you're looking for, WITHOUT THE DRONE

And from all my experience and from others, the Magnaflow will drone the least I'd say.

I;m not extremely familiar with the 6.0 engines w/ exhaust, so I don't know about the drone issue with them, but I know my neighbors Denali doesn't drone at all, and I'm the kind of guy who wants a quieter, smoother, mellower exhaust not myself. I'm EXTREMELY picky about my exhaust setups

I have a 6.0L in my 03' 1500HD and I am running with a Raven 77 series. It is a little bit louder than I would have liked but sounds real good! Awesome deep rumble on start up and when the foot is on the pedal. However it is barely noticeable at highway speeds 65-85MPH. I have also tried the Raven 33 series (ran as true duels) and all I can say is LOUD as a matter a fact so darn loud I couldn't stand to drive it!!!

Hope I helped some

Matt

I haven't heard Flo-pro's on a stock 6.0 in a truck, but I have heard the brand used on a modified 6.0 mated to a true x-dual exhaust on an f-body. Excellent sound and amazingly quiet for the lack of muffler. I would imagine one of their replacement mufflers would sound good on a 6.0 truck.

To answer your question yes, I installed flo-pro muffler on my 99 2500 with the 6.0L. It sounded much meaner outside the truck and as far driving there was a little more in cab sound over stock. At lower speeds when I would nail it anybody driving next to me was deffinitly aware that I was there. Great for passing the jerk that pulled out in front of you especially if you had your windows down.
