What wire is this

Hello everyone, I'm new to the community here.   I have a question about my 21 silverado.   It's a 21 silverado lt trailboss, 5.3 liter 4 wheel drive.   Question i have is what wire is this that looks like it goes into my brake caliper.   I see one on the driver side (pictured) but i don't see that wire on the passenger side.   Is this wire the reason that the dic knows how worn my brake pads are. Thanks in advance everyone.

AS stated above only on one side as they will wear at the same rate so YES it is how the truck knows the wear on the pads.

very difficult to unplug for me anyway.

Thanks guys,  i kinda figured it was,  just haven't had a vehicle with brake pad wear monitor before.
