Trailer break system/ truck turning off

Recommended Posts

I have a 2017 Silverado 1500. It started out by the trailer break system coming on on the dash and then when I would turn it wouldn’t let me and if I forced it the truck would turn off. Now I go to turn the truck will just turn off didn’t pop up anything on the dash. Stabilitrax has also popped up a few times. It doesn’t always do it. It does it so random that it can’t really be pin pointed to one action. I have checked all the fuses for the trailer brake system and I even unplugged and checked the main plug under the spare tire every looked good and was tight. Any thing will help. Thanks in advance!!

Also last night I put it in reverse and it instantly shut off. When I tried to restart it it had no power anywhere no lights on dash radio or nothing. After a few turns of the key the power finally came back on.

Try searching YouTube for your issue. I've watched several videos where the rear trailer module would corrode & go bad, especially on salt belt area. I believe South Main Auto had videos on this for several GM vehicles. Good luck with the search.
