Exterior Door Handle Button Replacement

I didn't think the passive entry had anything to do with the door handle itself. There's a module under the dash I believe.

The button in the door handle has everything to do with activating it. Without the button, it will not work.

With the 'passive' system you still need to push the button.

If the fob is close enough, the door will unlock (or all doors, depending on settings selected)

What you don't have to do is use the fob buttons or use the key.

I understand the button has to be there, but why are you swapping handles with ones that don't have them? The module that registers the fob isn't in the door handles.

I replaced them with ones from a Yukon Denali. I wanted something different with the painted area in the middle of the chrome. The Yukon ones had 2 wires where my 2022 refresh had 4. I had to swap the buttons so they would work.

I did figure out how to get to the button. It was easy but took delicate precision to not destroy the handle.

Got pictures? I guess I didn't know there were differences in the looks of the handles.

The Premier & Denali handles have a painted strip in them. My Equinox has them too. I'm going to have these wrapped white to match the truck. The rear buttons done work....yet.

Not sure why GM didn't do these handles on the trucks. I love them.

What? Someone ADDING chrome??? I thought everyone HATED it and were doing everything to get RID of it! My ex wife's Pontiac G8 GT had the same type of handle with the painted center and chrome edges and I thought it looked sharp. I found a place on ebay that sells handle covers and they offered chrome with options for vinyl overlays for the center. They also offered just the vinyl as well. Thought about doing it on my truck which is a Custom with the textured black handles. I ended up just going with cheap(~$25) gloss black stick on covers since they wanted way more for the other ones.

I removed chrome technically. My LTZ had all chrome handles.

I don't mind chrome. At least it won't chip as easily as paint will. I had the option for the same truck with black badges. I refused it because I don't like the black badges with chrome bumpers and trim like the LTZ has. Either remove all the chrome or leave it.
