2024 2500HD ZR2s

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Anyone have one in their hands yet? My dealer has one arriving this week or next and says I can take it if I wanted.. But I haven't seen one yet and there aren't too many pics of them online other than the original press release from this spring. Wondering if anyone here has their ZR2 in their driveway yet. I would be getting one in black, which I have not seen at all yet.

I originally wanted an LTZ Z71 Midnight (with most of the options) like my 2017 was, or for similar price (after the LTZ options added) I could get the High Country since it is now offered in a midnight package (can you see my theme here?) and think it looks great! Dealers around me don't have too many trucks coming in that are unclaimed in either trim, which is why the one dealer offered me the ZR2 as a comparable (since its blacked out). Like the idea of the ZR2, but wondering if there would be anything I am missing from the other options?

Only think I don't really LOVE, is the ZR2 interior colours... I like black on black, or in my current trucks case, the AT4 interior is a very nice colour way. But with more owners pictures of the interiors, it would be helpful to see the ZR2 in different lights.

If they have it arriving soon, you should be able to look at the window sticker online and see if it has all the options you want. There aren’t many out “in the wild” yet since they just started building the first ones in late August/early sept I believe.

It’ll sell fast. They are really sharp. I love the look of them but there are some differences due to it being an “off road” trim. In case those impact how you plan to use it.

The interior is actually pretty sharp inside on the ZR2 1500s we've had at work.

ZR2 has WAY better seats than the regular trucks do as well.  Different cushions.

Really? I didn't know that! I am not going to lie, I don't love the seats in my 2020 AT4... My 2017 LTZ was much more comfortable to me. If this is true for the 2500HD ZR2 then that will be the biggest appeal to buy this!

The dealer website is very generic really. Has an options list, but doesn't really show everything like it should. This one is priced the same as a well optioned High Country Dmax, so assuming it has most things I would want.

What differences are you referring to? I LOVE the ZR2 1500, it is the nicest truck I think currently on the road. I however still need the payload and towing of a 2500 so it isn't an option. Everything I have found in reviews says the payload/towing numbers don't really change on the HD ZR2 which is awesome! And my wife (and kids) are hoping the DSSV dampers will make it a little more compliant on the road when unloaded.

All of these would be perks to me! Is there anything you can think of that may detract from the truck?

Fun fact for everyone looking at a ZR2.  You can still get plow prep on them or also the F60 camper front springs so no limitations in that regard.  Payload and towing are still quite good as well and the factory 5th/gooseneck prep can be ordered as well.

Payload on the ZR2s are slightly lower from what I saw, but still way higher than a 1500. The one near me had lower towing too but also not by much .

also, your dealer should have the window sticker digitally and be able to send it to you

So was at the dealer for 2.5hrs, and left with a deposit down on the truck. Supposed to be here any day now, but he said the transportation to dealers right now is severely lacking and unpredictable. It is sitting on a lot a few hours away, but waiting on a truck to come pick it up.

The payload numbers looked very similar to my current AT4, and the towing and GVWR was also comparable. I guess Ill see when it lands and I can read the door sticker.

And on the interior, nobody knows if the ZR2 received the different seats for the 2500s because nobody has seen one or heard anything yet. Guess I will find that out too. Apparently this is one of the first ZR2s to land up here.

My only complaint, is it doesn't come with the flex tailgate which I currently love on my AT4. I use it all the time, and would much rather have it, than the power up/down that comes standard. Apparently the dealer said they had a stop sale on them and GM was keeping the few they had for GMC models before Chevy.

Hard to tell exactly but yea there is more bolstering to the seats.  The cushions are different part #s from the other seats in all the other trims.  To me from the last ZR2 we had on the lot, they had a good bit more bolstering to them but also felt less stiff compared to the standard seats.

Did Stevie Wonder do that upholstery job?  Yikes!  Lots of waves and ripples in that application.

Those look like the seats from the AT4 and Denali.

Anyone in Ontario that has a Multiflex tailgate in black want to swap for a brand new power up/down? Just noticed it wasn't spec'd on this truck. Coming form a GMC... I thought all the top of the line trucks came with them now... I sure will miss my AT4 gate. I know people ****** on them, but I used mine daily for work.

How much taller is the ZR2 than the standard trucks?  I know it has bigger tires.  Is the suspension any taller?

They ZR2s come with a 1.5" lift front and rear, along with new knuckles and upper and lower control arms for more travel and better geometry.
