Engine swapping a 2011 Gmc Sierra 1500 Crew cab 4wd  engine into a
2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 1LT

I need to know if this is possible, and what would be required to do so.
Please tell me any information you know about this if possible or if not. I am
trying to a put the 2011 gmc sierra 1500 engine into the 2006 chevy 2500
hd.
I am trying to figure what needs to be done to do the switch, Is it possible to
just  drop it in and use a computer or do i need to retune something.

I just need to know what needs to be done, tools needed, and if its even
worthwhile.

Way too much work and aggravation to make it work.  Sell the Gen IV stuff and stick with Gen III stuff.

Can you provide details if possible about what can be done, I don't care about the work. I have all the parts from the donor truck, everything. I just need to know all the steps so I can do it.

First off, why on EARTH would you replace a 6.0 with a 5.3?

Sell it and upgrade the Gen III or get another gen III 6.0.

Just some quick googling, the 58x to 24x converter boxes for the crank signal consensus says they are hot garbage.  Because of this, you'd have to swap crankshafts.  You also would have to swap the front cover and then figure out the knock sensors as gen 4 are in the sides of the block, gen 3 are in the valley.

So...scratch your idea all together and get the right engine so it just boom plugs and plays.

The easiest way to make it work is to use only the block and maybe the heads from the donor.  You will still need conversion boxes for the crankshaft reluctor and cam sensor and move the intake, fuel injectors, wiring harness, valley cover, etc. from the old engine onto the new engine.  There are some more details that I'm not sure on but the fellas over at PerformanceTrucks forum will know.
