Oil loss after DOD delete

Recommended Posts

My 2015 Silverado had a lifter failure and had a DOD delete done shortly after. Ever since, I have been burning approximately 2 quarts of oil per 1,000 miles. There are no visible oil leaks and there is no smoke or residue on the inside of the muffler. The shop changed the PCV valve and now they are stumped. I suspect they just don’t want to put the work in and dive back into the engine to see what’s wrong.  Is there any insight as to where is going on with the oil and how to fix? Thanks

Anything wet underneath?  Did it lose any oil before the DOD delete?

Check for leaks first.  If you don't see any obvious leaks, throw some engine oil dye in and get a black light.

Nothing wet underneath. Never had any oil loss issues before.

Check the vacuum Hose at tge brake booster. Pull it out & see if there's oil at end of tube. If so, you're vacuum pump seal is failing & needs replaced. If so,This has a 10 year warranty on it.

ADDED: Also check to see if the original valve covers were put back on of if they install an earlier version that had an "oil consumption" issue. I don't think they would have but like you said..."ever since it was worked on".
