Last time I was in Maine I went to bed (tent) in the 70's and work up near freezing with everything I had on the bike. Then off to showers with no hot water :crackup:Awesome pancake breakfast though. 😉

You crack me up....LMAO!!!

Do you mean Gulf Shores AL or Gulf Port MS? Just across Mobile Bay from each other.

Last time I was in Gulf Shores AL they had a sea food place on the beach where you could trap Blue Crabs off their pier and then they boiled them up for ya with fix'ns. Hurricane Frederic flattened the area a month later so never went back. Really nice beaches.

Drove through Gulf Port on that same trip but didn't stop.

Gulf port is my first stop going east to Fayetteville NC. We visit the island view casino. Across the street is one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve visited. Going in October for cruising the coast is a great time too.

Shrimp festival would be delicious. Reminds me of forest gumps buddy bubba spouting off all the different kinds of way to prepare shrimp

25 years ago we used to go to Puerto Penasco Mexico in the RV. This is a shrimping village. We could go to the harbor and buy shrimp off the shrimp boats. Don't remember the cost, but I do remember it was cheap.

I do remember you could camp on the beach with a self contained RV for $3 a night. Getting stuck was possible. Back then it was not crowded.

Good catch, I got my Gulfs mixed up.  We found a campground in Foley, AL to stay at called Ahoy RV Resort.  The shrimp festival is in fact in Gulf Shores, AL.

That whole place has never been the same since that hurricane.  It's not wildly populated nor congested.  It's actually a very nice place to go these days along with Biloxi that we were just at a couple of months ago.  You can still see the remnants of that hurricane.  Large concrete platforms that are now weather torn and broken up with nothing on them of which is a little eerie...it wiped off a huge portion of that part of the gulf.

I go through 6 times a year. The are rebuilding nicely. Not as elegant as before after losing some nice old trees. The slow pace of rebuilding is due to very high property values. Traveling the costal road still has some nice views.

Yes it does.  I love driving across the coastal highways.  I could never afford a house there but it's sure nice to look at.

Ever drive out to Fort Morgan? If you like history, it's nice. If not, it may be a bore. I liked it. If it's still there 😱 You can throw a rock to Dauphin Island, the hurricanes eye.

We've driven darn near everywhere and I can't remember if we've been to Dauphin Island or Fort Morgan.  I'm going to say probably 6 or 7 years ago but I honestly have no memories of either one.
