Just received notice of GM Update N23-241156

Recommended Posts

Received this notice on my Chevrolet app.  It asked me to start the vehicle, then shut it off while the truck updates. No other info, is there a reason they don't include what is actually being updated?

I think that's just the OTA fix for the fractured steering shaft.

You're probably right, hopefully it took care of my next oil change and tire rotation too.

I tried to install this update yesterday and this morning the battery was dead and my GMC app says the installation is still ongoing.
I try to start the vehicle and it starts, but all of the displays are blank for 30 seconds, then the displays light up and the engine turns off.

Any idea's?

2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD with Duramax.
I tried to install the subject update on the display, I hit "install" and followed directions to turn the vehicle off. This morning the battery was dead. I jumped the truck and got it started.
The "My GMC" app is telling me the software is still installing and when I try to start the truck, the engine starts, but the displays are blank, after 30 seconds the displays light up and the engine turns off, but the displays all act the engine is running. This will reoccur if the engine is restarted immediately. After it sits for >10 minutes I can start the truck normally, but it says I have an emission systems issue, the check engine light is on and the traction control is turned off.

Any idea's on how to restart the software installation?

Mine gives me an update message but since my 90 days is up on the Sirius I think its just the burn update for the free trial. I had the same thing on my 2021 and I foolishly approved the update. The only effect was my Sirius was gone. Sorry, not falling for that one again.

@ashmunda The error messages youre getting are typical when the battery(s) are in a state of low charge.

I have no info on restarting the update. I have heard that its common to have issues with the update if the battery(s) drop below a certain voltage during the update. Seems like a flaw in the way they are done.

Got ours today. Display said the update would take 15 minutes and not to do anything with the truck. Leave it turned off and don't lock the doors. Came back 16 mins later and the update had completed. I verified it in update history. So far so good.

Cryptic explanation to what the update actually did.

Mine popped up last night, and then postponed it because my wife and kid were taking their sweet time getting out of the truck. I ran an errand this morning and it wanted to start it again when I got home and parked. I kicked off the update about 30 minutes ago, so it’s time to go check and see if it completed.
