Truck will not shift, Limp home mode

Recommended Posts

I recently swapped the TCM in my 2017 Silverado 1500, 5.3L 6 Speed. I was getting numerous codes and the truck would go into limp home mode. Prior to the swap I could get the codes to clear and the truck to drive fine if I disconnect the battery, but the problem would come back after one restart cycle. I finally took the truck to a Chevy dealer and they confirmed a new TCM was needed. I have since replaced my TCM with a "Street Smart Transmission" refurb TCM. Now that I have made the swap I am getting an additional Code, U0101.

My codes are as follows:

  • U0101
  • P0700
  • P2534

Any idea why I would be getting this new Code? Been looking high and low for the solution, only thing I can think of is the TCM connector was damaged and it is causing the weird electrical issues.

Well the 101 and 700 codes are the TCM, the 2534 is a low voltage issue, the "After-market" software in the new TCM may not be comp. with the "Stock" software in the PCM, hard to say, there may be a low voltage issue with the TCM connector, but you'll need a schematic to trace that out.  Did you have these codes with the orig. TCM?, what were the codes with the orig. TCM?
