Backup Camera Views?

Recommended Posts

Hi all - likely be an easy one but I cant find out via searching and the manual doesnt seem to help.  I have a 2021 GMC Sierra Elevation.

When you put truck in reverse you have access to two camera views. The one shown is what most use I imagine and is pretty generic. But the view to the right that shows the trailer - what in fact is it doing? I thought maybe it was showing where the trailer would go as you backup and turn the steering wheel but it is not looking like thats the use...maybe it is just to line you up with the ball hitch?

Bonus question: in view one do we not have an audible sound if we get close to something? I could find one in settings.

The elevation package does not have sensors on the back of the truck to alert you.

The 2nd view is for after you get close to the trailer.  You then hit the 2nd view to show you the hitch.  You can then pretty much put the ball right into the receiver of the trailer without have to back up 12 times.

Actually it doesn't change the VIEW of the camera, it just changes the overlay from the parallel lines for parking to a single line to line up the hitch ball.

Well, you also get the hitch view too.  So you get 3 versions of the rear view, with the trailer line, parking grid, and no overlay,  plus the hitch view.

Only on the higher trim level with the 8" screen do you get the hitch view which is just a digital zoom. Standard 7" screen is only one view and the option to change the lines from parking to hitch guide view.
