Silverado P.O.S.

Recommended Posts

My new 2023 Chevy Silverado is a POS. I test drove it and being a bit older I paid attention to the steering and braking and the power of the drivetrain. I didn’t bring along a 12 year old to go through the whole video game system screen and all the electronics and digital stuff on this pile of crap. The audio which includes radio and the phone audio when tied to the truck only works half of the time, sometimes even when the phone is tied to the truck it will pick up but have no audio and I have lost calls because of it and some were business related.  The silver buttons on the door handles only unlock the truck about 20% of the time, sometimes they will only unlock one door, sometimes three doors, sometimes none, the rest of the time they are completely non-functional,. The parking brake decides to set its self on any kind of incline including the tiny one on my own driveway. Unfortunately the parking brake when set pressing the parking brake release button even while stepping on the brake only works half of the time, the rest of the time I have to step on the gas and do a little burn out in my driveway to get the parking brake to release. The start button sometimes works on the first push, sometimes I have to push it three or four times and then say a prayer that this thing actually started, and before anyone asks, yes I’m pushing firmly down on the break and no I do not have dainty little womanly fingers. I step on the break hard and I push the button hard.  Different settings seem to change by themselves without even changing or touching anything. There are too many problems with this electrical and digital system to even list here as it just keeps getting longer. I’ve only had this truck for 2 1/2 months. I am a contractor and having my truck in the shop for even one day is very difficult. As the list keeps on growing, I am fearing to think how many days they will have to have it to make all the repairs. Not exactly the reliability that General Motors has been known for since I have owned them for the last 30 years. It’s also not what I would expect for having spent $60,000 on a truck to have this much stuff wrong with it in such a short amount of time.

I doubt anybody will question you'd ability to press a button or step on brakes.  Just the mental capacity of thinking is okay to $h!t on something this forum is dedicated to with lots of satisfied owners.  Is the truck perfect?  No.  Is there a learning curve?  Some, more than others.  You apparently need some help.  Instead of asking you whined and cried.  If I did the same to you, would you want to help?  Probably not.  What's good for the goose is also good for the gander.  Furthermore, $60k today isn't much of a truck, so you don't have a many problems as you could have.  In order to actually assist you we need to go down each issue 1 by 1 and mechanically break down your actions.  From what I've read I can see a lot of user error.  If you are close to me I'd be willing to help you in person at no charge.  I don't work for GM or a dealership.  After all, they won't offer you this kind of help, even if you paid them.  Ball is in your court.  Are you gonna tie your shoes and get to work on solving these problems, or give excuses on why you can't/won't?

My sincerest apologies for hurting your feelings or offending you by speaking negatively of something that you love so very much. But funny thing, since I did purchase this vehicle and spent my hard earned money on it, guess what I have a right to voice my opinion on it and it happens to be negative so my apologies for your shedding tears in your pillow About my opinion about this vehicle. Now yours may be the most wonderful pick up truck ever built and I am so very happy for you. But if you think that everyone’s truck that they buy that is a Chevy is the greatest thing in the whole wide world, then you must think that there are rivers of chocolate and raining skittles every day and that Uncle Joe isn’t a few fries short of a happy meal. I am thrilled that you have such a wonderful outlook on life, but for most of us it is usually a slap in the face and a realization that most of the time things don’t go your way. So yes I spent over $60,000 on a truck that I think is a total piece of crap. My opinion, my fact. And no I do not wish for you to help me on my truck, and thank you especially for not wanting to charge me considering you are not an auto mechanic nor a licensed technician for General Motors. So you can take your insults and your offer and shove it! I have always owned Chevys and the last three got me over 500,000 miles on the original drivetrain. The drivetrain on this one may be just fine, but everything else about it is about as reliable as Hunter Biden showing up for work every day.

Oh and one more thing that’ll probably make you can get a tear in your eye. The interior lights absolutely suck in this thing. They are very dim and are fixed. At least the ones in my 2005 they were adjustable and could move around. These things are so very dim and the floor Gets no light at all so if you drop something good luck in finding it. General Motors really dropped the ball. They must have a lot of guys like you snowflakes who come in and try to redesign these things getting rid of the better interior lighting but making sure to put a button on the dashboard to lower the tailgate from inside of the truck. Yeah there is a real needed technological advancement.

My first new truck was a 91 dodge diesel. It was used for work. We always kept a spare truck around in case of break downs. In 94 I bought a redesign Ram diesel. We kept the 91. The 94 was a lemon. During the time about 18 months I used the 91 more than the 94. It was in the shop. Eventually they gave me all my money back for the 94 as long as I bought another Ram. I did it was much better. I understand the venting. It’s hard to believe that much could go wrong. I suggest you calmly take it to the dealership and point out what they can duplicate. Go online and E-mail directly to GM. It’s a pain I know. Been there.

He came here to vent, simple. Maybe he has a legit problem with his truck and being he's a contractor I get it having retired from construction.

2023 Silverado 1500 High Country here.......

Not one single issue and super happy with it.

Sorry for the OP if he hates his new truck, sell it and move on......life is too short to be frustrated and irritated as much as he obviously is.

Damn you're a grumpy old fart! I do agree on the interior lights. It's the worst part of the truck for me.

Theres a fix where lights can be added to the front floor area. I did this on my 2021 and it made a world of difference. Someone posted a bulletin on how to add lighted thresholds to the current model trucks, this can be used to tap into the dome light power so that your new lights will be controlled just like the existing ones. I am waiting for a pin for the connector on the BCM for mine, once i have that the 24 will have "foot lights" as I call them.

The issue is fixable, it just requires a modest effort.

I'm a moderator on 2 vehicle forums. This is what is listed in the forum rules. Looks like it needs to be appllied here.

4. This forum is not for ranting about how much you hate GM/Dealers/Chevy/GMC over your repairs. Car troubles are frustrating for anyone, but without exception, every car brand sells a few lemons. Most members are here because they like their cars and clicked your link because they want to help. Violating this rule may result in an immediate ban.

MAGA 2024 was the only intelligent and worthwhile statement in your rambling rants…..:

Apparently the dealer must have had a gun to your head and had you tied to a chair until you purchased the vehicle apparently without so much as a test drive.

Do you want some cheese with your whine?

So what did your useless post(s) accomplish?
