2023 GMC Sierra Recommended Oil Change Mileage

Recommended Posts

Reputable service centers log service records on computers. I recently changed from a couple of dealers to an oil change facility I vetted. They pulled up records from 3 different vehicles I took there. I wouldn’t buy a vehicle I couldn’t get service records on. Most people are only go by what’s recommended. Two of the dealerships I used recommended the severe service schedule. So there’re out there.

Following dealer recommendations can cost you more money than necessary.   The dealer is not your friend, they have a vested interest in seeing you often and increasing their profits.   Follow the owner's manual.

You can always say no to the extras there are easy to do yourself like air and cabin filters. Injection cleaning I tried once with my wife’s Genesis at 100K miles. Noticed nothing. I like that I get a check list, especially the brakes. It’s not easy for an older dude to bend over with a flashlight light to check. Forget about pulling the wheels. And of course read the manual. Today’s low is 81 with 80 percent humidity going to 101. It’s like that for 3 months. I’m not doing it myself. If you do the research you can find a reputable dealer or service center. I’ve found 3 over the years.

That’s why it’s good to know and follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.  Not the same as what the dealer might recommend.  The maintenance schedule may be a starting point for many car/truck enthusiasts, but it will go a long way to keeping your vehicle running well and to get to the 100K mile range the OP is looking for.

7500 miles is the recommended service/inspections interval for other stuff on the truck

Manual suggests that if truck sees 'severe service', the OLM might recommend the oil change as early as 7500 miles.
