Installing/Replacing 2020+ Silverado Fog Lights

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have tips and/or tricks to replacing or installing foglights on the Silverado 2500/2500's? I have a '22 Custom and trying to replace the blanks with Baja Designs' fog light kit. There is no freaking room for my big hands to reach the top-inner screw. I even had my wife helping me out without much luck. I've looked into removing the bumper, but it looks pretty involved.

Any help is appreciated!

when I installed oem fogs on my 22' Custom I removed the tow hooks, and the bumper support brackets to gain more room.  It was still a huge pain to get at the upper inside bolt and could only get a tiny little bit of a turn on each turn of the wrench.  It took me longer to tighten those 2 screws (1 per fog) than it did the rest of the entire fog install including wiring them up as well.

I had the same experience.  Even removing the tow hooks and supports didn't help much.  That one screw on the top is a huge pain to get to.  Little by little, I was able to rotate it and eventually remove it.  In my case I installed the diode dynamics SS3 Max SAE fogs in amber.  They are far less bulky than the factory housings.  Getting to all the fasteners for installation is quite easy.

I imagine the Baja Designs should be similar.  I have installed about a dozen of them in the past (both squadron and S1) and they are very similar in size to the SS3.

I was able to finally get that top 3rd screw in the driver's side. I need to work on the passenger side as the top hole of the BD bracket isn't quite lining up. I'll probably have to pull the mount out and bend it a bit hoping I don't jack up the powdercoat.

I have my 2022 OEM factory fog lights available for sale. These were removed at about 500 miles and in like new condition.

One of them has a tab on the back missing (top one on backside photo). I removed them when the truck was new so I don't exactly remember, but I think it was to help secure the wires.
