Radio freezing up 2023 2500HD LT

Recommended Posts

Anyone else’s touchscreen freezing up? Mostly when a phone is connected, but have had it freeze in Bluetooth as well. Will usually unfreeze at some point, but sometimes needs an ignition cycle. Tried two different phones as well. Same issue.
Since it’s intermittent, I’m dreading trying to bring it to the dealer.

I have issues with my 2024 as well.  Same thing.  It locked up the display but the Sirius was still working.

The navigation was screwed up yesterday morning.  I used it for directions to a town and it was doing fine. Then I shut the application off and tried putting a new location name.  The Google thing said it could not connect.  But when I touched the previous location, it went right back to giving me instructions to it.  I tried this several times.

Yesterday afternoon, the HUD was locked up displaying directions from a few miles/turns past.  I tried shutting the radio off and turning it back on, getting out of the application and getting back in, and even putting in new location to go to. (I have video off all of this btw). Nothing worked.

When I stopped and got fuel and shut the truck off and restarted it, it was still stuck.  I even had video with the Google Maps giving new a new turn, making the turn, and then on a new route with no change in the locked status.

Finally, I cycled the "info" toggle and it started acting right.

See my comments in the post about the headlight issue as well.

GMAuthority journalists have this story:

Here’s How To Reboot Your GM Vehicle’s Infotainment System

19

It can be difficult to argue that technology doesn’t make our lives more seamless and connected. However, there are few things more infuriating that tech struggles, with vehicle infotainment systems being high on the list of annoyances. With this in mind, Consumer Reports has compiled a list of instructions on how to reset your GM infotainment system.

According to a report from CR, the automotive publication reached out to automakers for instructions on how to reset frozen infotainment systems. Afterwards, CR tested these procedures for confirmation.

It’s worth noting that not every vehicle sold by every automaker is covered in this report.

In total, GM provided instructions on four systems, which includes:

  • Mylink/Intellilink (2014-2016)
    • Press and hold the home and fast-forward buttons for at least 10 seconds.
    •
  • GM Infotainment (2017-2019)
    • Press the Onstar call button, and immediately hang up.
    •
  • GM Infotainment without built-in Google (2019-2023)
    • Turn the vehicle off, and then turn it back on.
    •
  • GM Infotainment with built-in Google (2022+ full-size trucks and SUVs, Cadillac Lyriq, 2023+ midsize trucks)
    • While in “Park”, press and hold the phone hangup button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds.

Notably, there are certain circumstances where performing these procedures won’t fix an issue with the infotainment system. If this were to be the case, there are some additional measures that can be taken.

“I have seen a phone stop working after the phone performed a software update,” Consumer Reports’ mechanic and master technician Michael Crossen was quoted as saying. “In these cases, you have to wait for a car software update to be available in order to fix it. [In addition,] make sure you can accurately describe the issue, and take video or a picture when the system is failing, especially if the problem is intermittent.”

According to a Chevy dealer, you'll have to reset the infotainment Center system. All you have to do is press and hold the phone hang up button on the steering wheel for about 10 seconds or so. Screen will go dark and start with the resetting process. Then you just wait until everything comes back up.
