I want to do a Amsoil bypass filter kit I have (BMK23) new in the box. I found out i needed a 1-16 thread adapter (BK300) to replace the PF66 filter. The only thing is the factory oil filter has no by pass so it must be in the filter block on the engine. Anyone know what PSI the bypass is set at? Seams the only filters I can get for the BMK23 are 3/4-16 and have a 11-17psi bypass. From what I'm seeing the LM2 runs 20-30psi normal. I dont want to be bypassing oil to soon.

well i haven't found a bypass pressure but i did find a oil filter that does not have a by pass. its the filter from the 08-22 6.7L Cummings. Amsoil EA080. its a 1qt filter. It also has a 1-16 thread with same size gasket as the PH66. So if it fits in the same location as the PH66 it should work with the 3.0L.  My Amsoil by pass kit calls for a 3/4-16 SBF filter but can only find the hard to get Jomar 9025 filter to fit that without a bypass. I did find a 3/4-16 to 1-16 adapter that i will use so the EA080 filter fits.

The Amsoil EA080 cross references to a K&N HP-4003 you can find in the parts store.

I think the right move here is to just run the correct filter and roll with it.  Oil pump is variable displacement on this, and I don't think its worth risking a 5yr/100k mile warranty just to have some fancy oil filter contraption.

i sent Amsoil a question about both kits. Im sure I will receive a we didn't test it so you cant use it. Just like they told me they dont have a adapter for the PH66. Yes they do have a adapter. The BK300.

I would imagine it would be fairly simple to go back to stock for anything warranty related. Just a little more involved than an oil change.

I'm curious to see how this goes. I've got less than 2 years left on my warranty, wish lists never end. Also as far as the PSI range goes. I've seen mine go as high as 60psi when pulling a trailer uphill or passing. Otherwise it's sits in that 20-30 range.
