2018 Silverado Infotainment Problems

Recommended Posts

Any one know the fix to correct touch screen changing stations on its own, bluetooth phone getting put on hold? Dealership told me the flat screen needs replacing for about 1,000.00. Some of my touch screen buttons work some dont. I can control changing stations from the steering controls. Cant change any of my setting like clock or date from the touch screen.  The thing that doesn't seem to me to be the flat screen is the info center on my dash changes randomly. I always have the digital speed displayed but it will change to the current radio station.  I don't think there are any controls on the flat screen that can change my info center on my dash. I have read of people getting the flat screen replaced but twenty miles later its doing the same thing. Dont feel like spending  a grand only to have it not fix the problem. I can hear it beeping like something is changing the stations. Is there a known issue in the steering column that could fix this?

Just from what I've seen on this forum & youtube videos, this is a common issue. They show replacing some of the parts to try to repair but I'm not sure how good that works. If & when mine goes out on my '17 Silverado, I'll probably get an aftermarket unit that is larger & a little more robust.

I had the same issue and found several threads on this site about it.

Many, including myself have changed out the digitizer. The digitizer is offered on eBay and YouTube has several videos on "how to" replace. (be careful with the ribbon connectors.)

It took me about 45 minutes and the cost range from $50-$300 depending on where you buy the digitizer.

That is typically the fix for random crazy screen.

Let me know if you need help finding the links and I will dig them up.

It is indeed the digitizer. I just unplugged mine. While it eliminates the problem, you no longer can use the touch screen. You can still perform many of the functions via the controls. Just a page back or so you'll find a long thread on this topic.

Here's the latest thread: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/252750-touch-screen-has-a-mind-of-its-own/page/4/#comments
