Borla catback for a '04 silverado

Well, after having this exhaust for 2 weeks. This s**t came off. The fitment was about a 4 out of 10. The flange that it connects to the header collector didnt fit right and it leaked. Not only did it leak but it went up to far and rattled against the heat shield. Their was NO fix for this. The clamps didnt seal and I had to get it welded up.

Overall, the exhaust sounded excellent and look good also. But the fitment was horrible. After 2 weeks of assesment I went and got a flowmaster exhaust installed. Maybe, I got a bad one, who knows. But this was my experience with it.

Borla's hype is way over rated for the cost to aquire. 5 out of 10

:sigh: The Borla system I have on the car is very high quality. Maybe you did have a dud, I would've demanded they live up to the warranty and replace the system. If the company was difficult you could've gone through the vendor you purchased from.

My kit was A+++ all the way. Still wish it was louder dammit!! I got the kit through my dads work for $340 so I cant complain. He just started carrying Magnaflow stuff recently..... I wish I would have waited a while for exhaust!!! Flowmaster just doesnt do it for me. IMO all you get with Flows is sound.

I wish I had the cash for B&B TriFlo!! :sigh::P

I paid like $600+ for a perfect fit and a perfect drone at cruising speeds. Took off the Borla muffler and welded a longer magnaflow to the Borla pipes....it's now sounds like stock at 75-80 mph. Sounds like a corsa but with less rasp.

Borla fitment: 10

Borla muffler: 5

Magnaflow free flow muffler: 10

Money spent: :sigh:

I have a borla on my truck with the XR1 mufflers and they sound bad as*.I also have the borla 3 1/2 inch round intercooled tips out back.I love mine.I have always liked borla exhaust.I had flowmasters on it and magnaflows on before and in my opinion they dont sound near as good a my XR1's.

That's why I always go to my exhaust guy for work, and he's cheaper than the cat-backs! Excellent work, clean install, and hes pretty darn cheap compared to the other around my area. He charges a flat rate of $300 for all his dual out systems, at least on trucks/suv's. He cuts me a deal tho, he sponsors my bros sprint car, and I'm always having exhaust work done on my cars and friends (I'm an exhaust FREAK if you havent noticed yet lol). But my friends dad had Gary do a Borla dual 2.25" out the rear, and OMG IT SOUNDS NICE! I LOVE the sound of Flows on the newr 4.8-6.0 ltr GM's, but Borla takes the cake for me. I'm planning on having Gary do a system like this on my mom's truck even if she doesn't give it to me. Isn't that great though? My mom wants me to do exhaust for a mothers day gift lol. I had the money last yr, had $800, I was gona do an x-pipe, hi flo cats, and dual flow 50 seeries, but she flaked out and never showed up!

But like I said, that's why I have the shop's do just a muffler-back. But at least you're happy with the new results!

I paid the premium for the Borla SS piping and the mandrel bends. No one around here has a mandrel bender, and I wanted as much free flow as possible for the supercharger. It's easy to find exhaust shops that can make a good dual system - but most of the bends i've seen from these guys had a pinch or two in the pipe.

Borla claimed that the escalade system did not resonate...whatever, all they had to do is listen. At 2000 - 2400 rpm the drone was bad enough to make you not want to take the escalade on the highway.

My guy is EXTREMELY meticulus with his work, it has to be perfect, so that helps too. One of the other local shops does a s**tty job. but resonance with borla? I'm one to hate drone (which is why i refuse to have anything to do with 2 chambers on a daily driver), but borla I've never noticed Drone, its just right for me.
