Importing a Sierra

So I'm looking to import a 2018 Sierra from Canada to the USA. I was just wondering if a Canadian Sierra conforms to the DOT and EPA requirements of the USA.

I did this process in 2021 when we moved from Canada to the USA, it was pretty straight forward. This was for my 2018 Sierra which we already owned when we moved down.

You need to email GM and request a "compliance letter" confirming the vehicle meets those requirements. They know exactly what the letter is.

After you enter the US, you need to have the passenger airbag indicator replaced with the US version. I went to a dealer and ordered the part. I pulled the overhead panel off with a screw driver, went inside to show them i swapped the indcator, and he signed my letter to verify the work was done. The airbag indicator is the ONLY item that requires change over, because the instrument cluster is digital, it can be switched to MPH automatically.

Then you take the paperwork to your local customs office and an officer will come out, verify the VIN, and sign your import papers.
