I like the yellow lights, they let me know someone is next to me, even if I'm not changing lanes. As I mentioned in the OP, I am not looking for these convex mirrors to assist with lane changes. I want to be able to glance at them and see my rear tires at any moment. That said, it's hard to tell in your pics, but can you see your rear tires at all times in your convex mirrors, where you have them placed in the upper, outer corners?

the yellow lights are better than shoulder checking, failure points and will they always catch a bicycle or motorcycle, radar and light itself are failure points, don't worry, you will always know when others are beside you in big enough convex also, your peripheral gets used to them and can pick things up in them without you realizing and the shortest of head movements or glances either way will give you the instant feedback you want, they are better than the light by a mile, seems in this day and age though it's buttons and lights and technology that does everything for you that sells, not the most reliable occams razor solutions we figured out early

passenger side I can see the rear tire very well, drivers side I see more the wheel well as my tires don't stick out far as compared to stock but if it's rounding corners, dodging curbs, and backing up tight to a driveway line and edge of bush...yes the convex do that job on both sides like a champ, no need for tilt down mirrors to park up tight on a line, I've had all these types of mirrors before...and I still slap the 3" on and forget the nonsense, it's bombproof and as you move from vehicle to vehicle your used to the same thing, why you buy them buy several sets at a time and hang them on a nail in the garage ready for your next ride 😉

and just on physics alone, the further out you put the convex the more you'll see of the side of your truck and wheels, they are cheap, grab a couple and have use some scotch tape loops and temporarily place them or a friend hold them in different positions before you commit to location

Too bad GM doesn't simply make the same design for the passenger side to match this?

since you didn't read the whole thread...that line between the convex and regular mirror can hide a car or a motorbike, it did for me twice shortly after I bought the truck and I ordered the flat mirror for drivers side and replaced as soon as I could and put a proper 3" convex on, that mirror is a safety hazard, you don't want 2 of them

mr lead foot, go back to my pics on seeing the tires, obviously better in person and my truck and mirrors are filthy but if you look at my passenger side, that's a 18" high 'hedge' I back up into on my driveway multiple times a day, I have a trailer on the other side of my driveway pad and need all the space of the pad, the hedge overlaps the concrete so I purposely push my back tire 'into' that bush every time I park and stay on the concrete line...because of that convex, the drivers side you can see a ton more of the tire and wheel to under the truck not just the edge of the tire but the passenger side will let you park like a rockstar on that side like a champ, or see the curb corners you're about to clip 😉

Well, firstly I did read the entire thread and while I appreciate you don't like the stocker, I happen to not find it to be a problem.  I don't find that line any more obtrusive than the frame around most of the other stick on versions, and certainly the stocker looks much nicer.  But again, I respect your opinion.  I'd like to have mine, and my preference would be to have a matching mirror for the right.

I have had those mirrors before and looking at them from the drivers seat you have to really focus on the mirror to see the blind spot not like the driverside and over time the plastic mirror will become not as clear as they were when new. So now I have my passenger mirror adjusted to see the blind spot no need to see the side of the truck going down the road, if I need to see where my tires are I just hit the down button on the mirror.

the Napa's don't fade, always brighter, just like in the pics but has been awhile since I tried to run a truck into the ground, for $3 bucks a side easy to replace

merged onto a 3 lane, and have to get all the way over to make left turn coming up, one car or small suv in that lane was timed just right to ride in that gap until I was right on top of them, that was #1, the second one was at a red light at intersection and there was a Harley in the left turn lane beside me idling super loud, sitting there, and could not see him, fascinating...anyway, never an issue like that with the 3" napa proper convex, stay away from the cut in stuff, or non-round stuff, and also thick framed stuff (black plastic raised lip rims etc.)

I saw those two instances within the first 2 months of ownership. So yeah, buh bye stock mirror

yes many stick on have thick black plastic raised lip frames etc. the ones to find have the thin tin low profile lip, in circle, Napa carries them, minimum size to use properly is 3", bigger is better but it's just the standard I keep around for all new vehicles as they will fit any mirror, even small cars, it will cover a lot of those small mirrors but the convex is more important

Is this the one you guys are buying? It looks like it has black trim in the pic, but it's the only Napa brand I can find on their site.

There is also a 2" version, that looks the same, but is smaller.

What about this one? Is it worth consideration?

hard to tell in pics, up here in Canada they are in little plastic bags on hangers in the front part of the store you can walk around and shop from, just have to ask whoever you order from to ensure it has the 'thin tin lip' and not a black plastic lip, you could try truck stops also, but can't seem to find the right ones at many places (always the black plastic trim)

looks like their code word is 'aluminum backed' where I was calling it 'thin tin lip' lol...you should be able to get the right 'aluminum backed' ones now

Thank you! That helps a lot. Just so everyone knows, it's not the Napa brand at all. It's made by Grote. You made it much easier to find. None of the Napas by me carry it, but it is available on Amazon. I will go visit my local Napa anyway just to see if they have it, but don't show it online.
