Stick-on Blind Spot Mirrors

Recommended Posts

I have my exterior mirrors set to tilt down in reverse, but sometimes I just want to see where my wheels are at a glance in relation to curbs and such. Obviously, the separate wide-angle mirrors on the towing mirror package are awesome in this regard. I was considering adding little sitck-on blindspot mirrors to my standard mirrors, but am having trouble deciding on what shape, and where to position them on my mirrors. I was originally thinking little square ones in the outer-upper corners would be the most un-obtrusive, and won't interefere with the lower portion of the mirrors, but I have blindspot indicators in that spot. I then thought about placing rectangluar ones on the bottom of the mirrors, but I'm not sure if doing that would obstruct the normal mirror view of my tires when in reverse. If any of you have installed these little add-on mirrors:

1) What shape?

2) Where on your exterior mirrors do you mount them?

3) Pics?

Thank you.

Following as this is something I’ve thought of doing also.  One thing to add to the list of questions, would the fact that the mirrors are heated affect anything in terms of sticking on a third party mirror?

I don't have the blind spot monitoring, so i have the smaller mirror on my driver side. I searched amazon to find something close that matches. I believe was meant for a Dodge Ram, but it looks super close to the driver side. It's big enough to see everything clearly, but doesn't take up the entire mirror.

Try visiting nxtgenautomotive. They have high quality blind spot mirrors for various vehicles, including, just recently, one for the latest model Sierra 1500.

No affiliation, other than a happy customer. When I was looking for ones for my '22 (HD but conventional mirrors), I stumbled on their site. At that time, they had no GM products, but I emailed an enquiry and after conversation with the president, they designed and developed a product.

Compared to the common b.s. mirrors on the market, these are first rate quality and come with explicit application instructions (follow to the letter).

Have had them for about 6 months and extremely pleased. Highly recommended.

Grover67,

Good stuff. Just make sure you follow the placement/attachment instructions to the letter. And also make sure you play with the placement (I tried them in all 4 corners and rotated them a couple times before I was confident exactly where I wanted them) with the protective backing still on, cause you only get one chance and they really stick.

Always just used the cheap stick on mirrors from the local auto parts stores on my work or personnel vehicles, they get bad or decide to fall off just replaced them. Wanted something a little better quality and looks wise, hopefully these will be it.

  • 1 month later...

I bought and received a pair.  I used some double sided tape on the passenger side mirror to install one of the mirrors temporarily until I could see if I liked it.  It has a good fit.  I’ve been using it for a couple weeks but for me it’s taking some getting used to.  It does not block the blind spot indicator light so typically, that light is on when I’m looking at the blind spot mirror.  I kind of have to train myself to trust the mirror and ignore the light.  I’m pretty sure I’ll do the more permanent install on the passenger side.  Then I’ll try out the driver side.  I don’t think that one will be worth installing but we’ll see.

Overall, I think it’s a well made product for a fair price.

Ya, much like you, I was hesitant to install the driver's side as the view, absent the BSM, was not as bad as the passenger side. Without the BSM on the passenger side however, I, in no way, could see to change lanes without some serious body/neck/head contortions and really taking my eyes off the road (I do not have the indicator light).

After some time with the passenger side installed, I got used to and now trust the view. I installed the drivers side initially more to have both sides match and I had ordered both anyway. I am now glad I did install it because it gives me that little bit extra coverage/confidence.

GN2018 and Grover67,

Have you received/installed these mirrors yet?

Got'em on. They are of better quality than what you find in you local parts place. They are clear and give you a wider view. Still a little hard to see on the passenger side but thats mainly due to distance and angle from drivers seat. One thing I would of liked if they would have given a choice of edge trim colour  to help blend in to mirror housing a little better.

I am the OP of this thread. I initially asked about these mirrors for viewing my tires, not other cars. That said, I find it interesting that several people posted about not seeing cars as easily in their normal passenger mirror as their driver's side mirror. Lately, I have noticed that I am being surprised more by cars being in a blind spot on my driver's side. I have no problem whatsoever with my normal passenger mirror convex view. I have also noticed that my BSM has become less sensitive on the driver's side, possibly due to a recent software update, to the point where I almost ran into a car that was on my left when changing lanes on two separate occasions, when previously the BSM would have notified me.
