I placed a factory order for a 2024 Silverado LT 3500HD and z71 Sport package back on December 15. Dealer is a high volume and they stated at time of order they get regular allocations.

6 weeks later and no allocation received and factory has not accepted the order. Getting frustrated beyond belief. About ready to pull the plug and move on to another brand.
Not having much confidence in my dealer. Is 6 weeks out of line to wait for an allocation and order acceptance?

Here we are one month later. No confirmation on the order placed on December 15 has even been allocated yet. Calls to the dealer get the runaround and excuses. Fed up. Any direct contact number for GM customer service? Everything I see runs me back to the dealer.

Hi Fellas

British Columbia, Canada  here. I have not read over this entire thread but there's a lot of content so I will start  and work my way through  . Also not trying to derail the OP's thread but thought their might be a lot of information covered in this thread so thought I would jump in .

I put a thread up concerning the 2024 HD Crew Cab that I'm interested in purchasing so forgive me if some of these questions have been answered .

Hoping to get lots of feedback on here !

I'm looking at either ordering a truck or buying one off the lot,

I would like a 2500 HD Crew Cab regular box 6.5 feet and the Custom Trim Level  6.6 Gas engine

#1  Does anyone know if the Chevrolet or GMC 2500 HD Crew Cabs with the spitting cab roofs were made in Flint or Oshawa  ?

#2 Are the Chevrolet 2500 HD's Crew Cabs regular beds made in both Oshawa and Flint ?

#3 Also what is the Z package all about as you can get a Z package on a Custom Trim level . Is this option still okay for towing  a trailer         ?

I will start with  that and see how it goes

Thanks !

The Z package is the Rancho suspension, & like 3 skid plates, and badging trim. I'm not exactly sure on your other questions, but my pre-2022 HD crew regular cabs were made in Flint, but I believe both my '22 & '24 were Oshawa builds according to my window stickers, and there is no "Proudly Made In Flint, MI USA" on the drivers door. Btw, the standard beds are now 6'10"

Not sure where you're located, but I'd tell that dealer if your order doesn't get placed within a week, you're taking your $ elsewhere. I'm now seeing the local dealership here with multiple HD's in their inventory. I think sales have slowed a bit and it shouldn't take that long to get an allocation. Maybe your dealership just does mass volume sales??

Given a2500 HD and a 3500 HD with the same options same 6.6 gas engine would the 2500 get better fuel milage as I think its a lighter truck ?  My head is spinning looking at dealers and their inventory and trying to compare apples to apples . I have a few questions regarding some options where would the best place to post these questions to get maximum views and replies ?   this thread or another Thread / Forum on this site ?

Thank You !

Of course, a lighter vehicle with the same powertrain will naturally get better mileage. I used to carry about a 300lb tool box in my '07 HD, and I'd get about 2 mpg better when I'd take it out of my truck. I'm not sure what the factory weight difference is between those two trucks, but the 2500 will get a bit better mileage & ride a bid smoother.

Thought the only difference is the extra leaf springs and a bigger diff. Can't be much more than a few hundred pounds. Of course if you order a diesel and get the MAX Tow package, they should be identical.

I have see there are quite a few options one can order on a new truck even on the Custom Tim Level .

For myself I don't need alot of bells and whistles .

Is a power drivers seat really needed ?

I saw a Custom 2500 HD listed for sale at a dealership and it had 2 220 amp alternators and dual batteries . What purpose does this serve ? Would that cause less gas milage ?

Thanks !

Only you can answer the drivers seat question. Do you want a power drivers seat?
A dual alternator and battery set up is for use with a plow or running a slide in camper. If you’re not doing those things, you won’t need it. Mileage won’t make a noticeable difference. Running a belt across a second alternator would not make a noticeable change to mileage.
