2024 AT4 HD, ordered Oct 5th and brought it home today. Already dirty on the ride home, winter in VT!

GM running boards and splash guards.

Adjusted air pressures to 60psi for all. Onstar shows orange for the rears but no TPMS error yet. If it does, I’ll change the placard pressures if the truck allows it with my Autel TS508.

Barely fits in the garage, can’t open the tailgate. A lot longer than my 2018 Sierra 1500 SLE Double Cab.

ARE cap gets put on next Friday.

Did it come with the KO2s?

First post here,  I have a 2024 3500 HC Dually on order,  been at Order Status 1100 since 12/4....  The order form has it as a sold order and priority 1.   I'm like a kid at Christmas,  how much longer???   I'm not getting clear answers from the dealer.

I’ve only ordered two vehicles in my life both my wife drove as daily, both were put up as an investment. One we still have. The first a 94 impala ss I read about in Hot Rod magazine. My local dealer didn’t believe me when I went in to order, they hadn’t been informed. That took about 6 months. We kept it 8 years. Traded for a new 6 cylinder Camaro for my son to go to college. Even trade. The second 2001 Acura Intagra Type R. That took a year. We still have it. It drives me crazy the waiting. I wouldn’t do it for a regular vehicle. I make better deals off the lot.

Congrats!  Probably just the scale of the photo, but that garage door looks tiny.  Good thing you did not get the ZR2, I don't think it would clear!

Yeah, those 9' wide doors are tight with those mirrors. Gotta pay attention going in and out of those small doors!

Truck came with BF Goodrich KO3’s. They have the 3 peak symbol for snow and will get through winter with them. I had Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3’s on my  1500 and will get another set of wheels and Nokians for the AT4 HD for next winter.

My first post to this forum.  I have looked back through this thread and am wondering what others got in the way of a build sheet when they walked away from the initial order meeting with the dealer.

I sat down with the salesman at my dealer in early November and ordered at GMC 2500HD AT4X.  With the salesman we spec'd it out with the exact options I wanted on the same build system you see when you go to the GMC website.  He printed everything out and I reviewed everything to confirm it was correct.  He told me that the sales manager, who wasn't there that day, would put the order into the actual ordering system.  I kept contacting him wanted to get a specific build sheet from the "real" ordering system so that I could see a list of RPO/LPO codes and confirm that everything was correct. He kept telling me that he did not have one yet.  On December 20th I got a generic email from GMC saying that the order was placed and gave me an order number.  I asked the dealer again to see a build sheet or order sheet showing the RPO/LPO codes so I could confirm the options were correct.  Got the same answer, we don't have that yet.  Finally managed to get a copy of the order from them, week before last.  It was printed out of their Vehicle Locator system.  And sure enough the order was incorrect.  So now the dealer is telling me they have no way to contact GM and get the order corrected, in fact they can't even cancel the order even though it hasn't been built yet and we don't even have a build date. Ironically, I got another generic email from GMC telling me that the order is still in process.  All of this seems very odd.  Dealer has been apologetic, isn't trying to force the truck on me.  They are trying a few more avenues of contact this week but it looks like I am going to have to start over with a new order and the dealer is going to have a $100k truck sitting on their lot in a small town.

Does this seem normal?  Is it normal to not get an actual "real" build sheet when you leave the order meeting?  Is it true that once the order has been accepted and an order number issued that nothing can be corrected and they order can't even be canceled?

TIA

Hi Red Hawk:

I'm new to all this and unfortunately can't say I have a firm understanding, but happy to share my experience. (Started on P.33 of this thread)

On October 2, 2023 I met with my small but reputable GMC dealer. I had already configured (built) the truck I wanted on GMC's website and was able to present a printout of the options / packages that I wanted. The dealer used that information to generate a "Deal Sheet" that listed the trucks configuration and the agreed price. It appears the "deal sheet" was generated internal to the dealer and was representative of the Window Sticker would be. I was required to check and initial each line item (option/package) on the deal sheet for accuracy, great idea in my mind. The deal sheet listed a specifically assigned "Deal #" & "Customer #". At that time I was informed clearly the dealer had no idea when my truck would be built.                            Fast forward .....

December 14th 2023 I got a call from my salesperson stating the factory had "picked up my order" (allocation assigned), however the 5th wheel / ball mount package was constrained, I hung up and drove to the dealer. While at the dealership the salesperson made a call to his GMC factory rep and told me he resolved the constraint. Also, I was told I could add a small option. The salesman presented me with a revised configuration that was generated on the corporate GM order Workbench system. The workbench order listed my newly assigned order number and "allocation group". I was once again required to check and initial each option/package line item for accuracy, again, good idea.

At that time no firm delivery date could be established, however a welcomed "wild ass guess" of about early March was offered. That estimate seems consistent with the what I am reading on this thread that it takes about 8-9 weeks after the factory picks up the order. Simply out of excitement I will likely reach out to my salesman for an update.

I hope this verbose response may offer some assistance, and maybe someone will chime in with additional information.

the key aspect in your situation is that you mention it's a small town dealer.  they've probably ordered more vehicles in the past 3 yrs than they have in the past 20 combined (then again maybe they really churn them out).  I contacted a dealer in a 100k+ population city we've bought several vehicles from and texted the salesman the exact truck we're interested in ordering - it was four options.  He left two off when they gave me a quote.

To answer your question, yes, a build sheet with an order number is available very soon if not within 15 mins after they place the order.  Sounds like you did everything you could and possibly know more about ordering than the salesman.   The only thing I'd have done is go by the dealership and talk to the person that actually placed the order.  Small town dealers the sales manager probably wear 10 hats - doesn't mean they can't be knowledgeable about everything they deal with...but fifteen minutes on a forum and I knew more about GM's ordering steps/allocations/constraints/order numbers than almost every salesman I spoke with

there used to be users online that could take the order number you received on 12/20 and then give you your build sheet.  guess dealers started pitching a fit because buyers now knew when something was screwed up before the vehicle arrived.  GM put a stop to the online assistance from other dealers that weren't the selling dealer - think employees can still do it, but GM must have some harsh penalties if they get caught because it pretty much stopped all of a sudden a year or so ago

Hope they are giving you a heckuva deal.  There's a point when it's easier to go elsewhere (understand small town politics may play a part though)
