2024 HD orders / status

Recommended Posts

Went to a dealer today and he indicated that it could take 6-8 months for an ordered truck to be built. I'm in Canada and they indicated that the dealership allocation is terrible compared to the US; he can only order a few HD/month which is restricted further by color and options. Don't know what the truth is, but I am ready to by a truck and there is sweet F-all to choose from and seems ordering (like I have in the past) is no longer an option. Crazy when a guy is willing to drop $120K (Canadian I know but still) on a truck and can't get what they want.

The first obstacle is finding a dealer that will tell you the truth. Plenty of stories on here about people that were strung along by dealers with no allocations left.

Mine took 12 weeks and the dealer told e straight up that he wouldnt have an allocation for a couple of weeks. Most of my other trucks (including my other HD's) took between 6-8 wks,  Flint is at full production and their numbers have stayed pretty good through the whole strike. I wouldnt doubt some items are on constraint due to systemic issues in the supply chain. An honest dealer can give you constraint information.

My only constraint was running/step boards so I left them off and added and aftermarket set that I actually like way better than my previous ones.

I received confirmation that my order was accepted by GM on 10/19 but I do not have a tentative build date yet. I can update when I get that.

Finally got my email they are building my Truck! Now lets see how long for completion and delivery!

Like @JStevie71 I received the email this morning (11/9) that they are building my truck. I believe this corresponds to event code 3400. Waiting on an update from Laura. So far Im quite happy with the process out of Laura.

As much as I like to support local businesses I strongly recommend folks order from a larger dealership if they would like their trucks on a reasonable timeline.

Shipping and logistics is still an issue in Flint. I heard there are around 8000 trucks in the shipping Queue currently. Thats a little over a weeks production thats bottlenecked. The most I have ever seen on a truck was 5 and that looked pretty sketchy, typically there are only 4. Not sure how many fit on the autorack but I know they are limited to only 2 levels.

Ordered my new truck on October 5th. Dealer had an allocation and GM accepted the order. Tentative build date came back 10/30-11/15. I called the dealer this morning and was told 11/18 was showing as the build date. I keep seeing guys post about receiving an email. Does GM send an email when the build starts?

You bet. I signed up for the emails through the help chat on the gm website though.

I received the second email (Build started) from gm last week. Subsequently, I chatted with a gm help agent and she told me there is a Tpw of 11/14. I do not have the build complete email yet though. Now that Flint has rejected the contract I’m crossing my fingers my truck makes it to the lot complete before Flint decides to strike.

They aren’t shipped purely in order of completion though, they transport in batches based on logistics efficiency. So some people wait a lot longer. Truck I initially ordered sat in the shipping queue in Canada for several weeks. Truck we ended up buying from dealer inventory came the 2 hrs by transporter within 5 days of build completion.

8000 trucks is about a full weeks production.

Ordered a 24 HD/LT April 29th. MN Dealer said it was built in June. Still sitting in Canada!!!  They have tried to sell me other trucks. Ones that have come in and people got tired of waiting for and went else were. Usually High Country's in the $80's. Dont want a HC. Last one took 9 mo to get to dealer.

After the dealership re-ordered my '24 HC in the CORRECT color in September, it only took 8 weeks to drop it at dealership. I've been driving it for a week now!
