2024 HD orders / status

Recommended Posts

Hello from Texas, New to the forum here. Ordered a 2024 Chev 2500 on Aug.10th.   Very basic, Work Truck, Double Cab, 4WD, Skid plates, roof lights, and 18" steel wheels.  A little back story, I ordered a Ford f-250 [same options] , on Nov. 17th 2022.   I cancelled the order 9 Months later, when I found out it wasn't going to be built. 9 months, no truck, and was told to change my order to a 2024, and add about $1000.00. On top of that I had to make quite a few phone calls/emails to get my deposit back. I'm not happy with Ford, or the dealer. I'm looking forward to this new Chevy. It would be nice to have it by Christmas, but I'm not desperate.  My last Chevy was a 1955 [1st series] 6400 firetruck. My current truck is a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, 4 door, 4WD with only 71,000 miles, I put a UTE aluminum flatbed on it about 5-6 years ago. I really like the flatbed, I'm going to have CM flatbed installed on this new Chevy. The Toyota has been a dream to own, go wherever I want, never gave me a problem, BUT.... after 12 years I just want something new. Plus, I told my wife I was going to look at new trucks, and said, "You should get whatever you want". I sure do like my wife.

I ordered the basic WT, regular cab, summit white, 4x4, cloth seats, no options. Just what every single fleet buyer would order. Ordered June 9th. Still waiting for Chevy to give an allocation to my dealer. It’s discouraging to read about Chevy already building other peoples trucks even before mine is picked up byChevy. It’s an insane business model. I’m going to pay with cash, and, it’s gone up $1000 since I’ve ordered.

It appears that GM only wants to build crew cabs. So good luck. I've had a double cab ordered since Feb 6th. Finally got an allocation on June 30th. But it still doesn't have a build date. With the looming strike, I don't expect to see the truck this year now. As long as your order was placed as a sold unit in your name, the price at the time you ordered should be locked in if that makes you feel any better.

Anyone else place any orders for 2024 GMC Sierra's HD?
Placed an order with robideaux Motors in Idaho and told there are over 30 orders ahead of me.
Truck was put into system but not accepted in Beginning of August they are saying I may get allocation come end of September.

What are you guys seeing out there?

Got a quick question for you. Roughly how long was it after your order went to production code 3400 that it was actually built. The reason I ask is because Sammy is saying I’m at 3400 but no production week. Was just wondering if this was the case with yours as well. Thanks

Well points to them for being up front about how many orders were ahead of you and not having an allocation yet. Not all dealers are up front.

I ordered a Chevy. Although I ended up later buying a different one.

but timeline was:

7/10 ordered - dealer already had an available allocation for my desired trim level

7/17 assigned TPW of 8/28

9/8 Built and awaiting shipment from Oshawa. (But that was with some help from the inside at GM…word is they were running 4-6 weeks behind from TPWs at least at Oshawa).

So timing overall wasn’t bad…key was having an available allocation. But then my Red Hot Z71 sport package showed up available and the dark ash metallic chrome LTZ I ordered didn’t seem as fun…

Timelines are probably out the window right now though depending on what happens with a likely strike starting in a few days…

On the order sheet my dealer sent me there is an allocation group number. Im assuming this means they had an available allocation.

If anyone is in the upstate NY area, Capitaland GMC has a truly honest, helpful staff. This will be my 4th new rig from them.

I have always felt it was important to develop a relationship with a dealer that most closely shares your values. I have been buying vehicles from the same dealer (with the exception of the 2 I bought from the local dealer that my son worked at for 3 yrs) since 1990. The salesperson I have dealt with has sold my family well over 15 vehicles. I usually only have to tell him the color and the powertrain of the truck I want to order and he knows the rest. I have never once given him a deposit when ordering. It just makes things so much easier.

Dealer reached out to me this afternoon, I supposedly have a TPW of this week so hopefully the strike doesn't effect it too much.

Also it seems as if the Gm bot is a couple days behind as far as updates. anyone else have similar findings?
