CHECK YOUR DIFFS...

Severe Gear is outstanding. Going in my 24 this winter at some point.聽

When I found the stock fluid was low, like everyone who checks seems to be, I said screw it and drained it all and put in severe gear. Way I look at it is I got the initial break in done on the stock fluid and have good stuff in there now.聽

I had only a hundred or so miles on my truck when I saw I was low. Too lazy to swap out then. I'm almost at 10k miles so this winter will be a good time to swap out聽

Got to check my '24 H.D Rear axle fluid yesterday, at 4200 mi.. 1-1/4" below the fill.聽

Used a "Q" tip bent at 90 deg. as a dip stick.

XXXX'd I asked the dealer service manager, specifically to check this, before delivery with 23 mi. on the Od., and gave him a printed page of these blogs to boot.

I topped it off with the AC-Delco 75w-90 as in warranty. Giving receipt to my GMC dealer as had to do this quick on my time and expense, getting oil at closest GM dealer before close on noon Sat.

Thanks to all for the heads up, on these should be "Assumed" good to go new vehicle delivery checks.

Yeah it鈥檚 a total joke that these are low. You鈥檙e lucky that Qtip didn鈥檛 break off in there as those have a tendency to snap once they are already bent or kinked. Probably wouldn鈥檛 hurt anything in there but my ocd would demand I get it out ha

Thanks to @Pryme聽& others for bumping this thread from earlier this year. I just took delivery of my '24 GMC 3500 and will plan to check this weekend and let you all know what I find.

I didnt read the entire thread but has this been correlated to either of the factories? I see Pryme has a Silverado and Ive taken note of several GMCs so is this just Flint?

Yes that would be correct. As the gm factories just slap axles in from AAM.

Yeah they are filled at aam. So if anyone is to blame it鈥檚 AAM. Unless of course GM is giving them a value to fill and it鈥檚 slightly low. That cost savings would add up with how many diffs they fill.聽

You guys got me all paranoid so I went out and checked mine, and sure enough it was a full inch below the bottom of the fill hole on my 2024 3500 gasser. For those of you topping off (not doing a full drain/fill), are you just topping off with AC Delco 75W-90, or picking up just any brand from the auto parts store? About how much will it take to get it in the 0-10mm range?聽 I'm debating taking it to the dealer just so it's documented, but it's a hassle taking it in since it's 40 min away.

I went to the stealership and made them give me some acdelco 75w90. I wouldn't mix unless doing a drain and flush.聽

I actually just went ahead and scheduled an appointment for them to do it. I'm at about 4,800 miles and have 2 free oil changes with the dealer (I changed it myself at 1k miles), so I just figured I'd take it in for an oil change and have them look at it tomorrow. Either way I'd rather have them document it and do it in case something happens later on (which I doubt).
