**Updated video** 2021 silverado 1500 Z71 RST Clicking noise! Help!!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2021 silverado with about 31,000 miles on it. 5.3 V8 with the 8 speed transmission.

I know these trucks have issues with DFM AFM and lifter issues. Although this truck is not equipped with this option(because of the chip shortage) but I believe the lifters are still the same type.

I do not think it's a lifter tick. I think it may be from the "high pressure fuel system". Not sure just seen that somewhere gm put out a TSB about the fuel system making noise.

I attached a video of the noise. It sounds like a clock ticking and is kind of a background noise.

It is used to purge gas vapors from the charcoal canister into the engine. Emissions stuff. Not sure where it's at on your motor but look it up on Rock auto to see what it looks like.

Hi repair man, I have a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 V6 turbo I'm at 120,000 km recently. The last two weeks I started to develop a ticking noise. Originally I thought it was lifters but it is not lifters. I took it into my local Edmonds GM dealer. Nobody there had a damn clue what it was. They decided to give me the option to start tearing apart my engine, which as you know that is an extensive research with no guarantees. So they took a shot in the dark and said let's replace your high pressure fuel valve $1,200 later. The tick is still there and my truck is still running like crap sounding just the same. I'm frustrated I've had this truck for 7 months up and it's disturbing that a GM dealership has no clue what their own species of truck is doing. Can you please please help me decipher this?
