Front Bucket Seats "CHIP" Install

Recommended Posts

Finally got it done for free at the dealer

Turns out my truck was built with the dash control switches installed BUT:

--- my truck was missing the control module (chip ?) in the seat

--- my truck was missing the seat cooler Blower as well

Dealer said each truck has unique missing parts month to month

My truck build date was April 2022

Took 2 full hours, dealer said the work was accessed by opening up the back of the bucket seat (?)

What did your truck retro-fit entail ?

No "chips" are directly touched/replaced as they are part of the PCBs in the modules.  Everything is new module or new switches for the heated seats.

The module in the truck is incomplete.  Depending on the recall number (by VIN and when the truck was produced) some trucks get just the heated seat module, some get the module and the HVAC control head and some get those two plus a new radio screen/faceplate assembly because they were built with a non heated seat faceplate, so no holes where the switches would be.

On the heated steering wheels, so far refresh 1500s its just the control module and wiring assembly inside the wheel under the airbag.  One Cadillac model requires a whole new wheel as they were built with a non heated wheel.  I suspect some Silverados will have to deal with that as well, but I think most are missing the module and possibly the control switch.
